Columbus Blue Jackets TRADE Johnathan Quick: 3.2.23

And just like that...if you blinked, you missed Johnathan Quick's time as a Columbus Blue Jacket. I'd have liked to see him play just one game here, but with the deadline being four hours before our next game, that wasn't possible if we were going to move him. The strong rumors placed us trading him to the Vegas Golden Knights, and as of a few minutes ago, that has been his confirmed destination. The deal is as follows:

"#CBJ NEWS: The Blue Jackets have acquired G Michael Hutchinson and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from Vegas in exchange for goaltender Jonathan Quick.

Hutchinson is expected to join the team before tomorrow's game."

Our newest goaltender is 33 years old. He's 0-1-0 this season and has only played in 2 games. That said, if he gets into the net more consistently he could prove to be a great asset to his new CBJ Team. The fact he's 6'3 and 201 is hopeful also, meaning he can take up a lot of net and keep pucks out theoretically.

I know many are questioning us needing another goalie; however, we've gone to our third, fourth, and even fifth man up before due to injury. You can draft a goalie, but getting one with some NHL experience is always good; two is even better for the near future. We've all seen it; NHL Teams that can fill in spots if injuries arise in the Playoffs typically go further into the Playoffs; it's that simple. As for the Pick we got, it may be a 7th Round Pick, but adding any new player can help a team, no matter where he is selected. This Pick is also great for our future; since it isn't till 2025, we could use it or flip it later in another trade. Again, it's another wait-and-see situation, but if you're an NHL Fan, you're used to that by now!

Welcome to Hutchinson, and Quick, I hope you enjoyed your vacation to Columbus, Ohio!
