St. Louis Blues @ Columbus Blue Jackets: Season 25 Game 11

The St. Louis Blues came to town tonight hoping to prevent the Columbus Blue Jackets from winning a fourth game in a row, while simultaneously ending their own six-game losing streak. The Blues would gain an early one-goal advantage at 3:37 with number two of the season for Justin Faulk. This goal would yield two assists, the primary becoming number five this season for Oskar Gundqvist, and the secondary becoming the fourth this season for Dylan Holloway. The Blues' lead would be short-lived, as the Blue Jackets would make quick work answering by way of Charlie Coyle's second goal this season at 4:38. Seconds later, Tyler Tucker and Mathieu Olivier would fight in Nationwide Arena. Trust that Mathieu won this fight, and that both men got five minutes in the box, but well worth it! This is his fifth point in two games! Cole Sillinger, with the primary assist, would add his fourth assist this season and his fourth point in the last two games as well. In addition, Ivan Provorov would add the third assist to his season on the secondary. With no more goals in Period 1, the Blues and Blue Jackets would go into Period 2 looking for a tie-breaker!

It would take well over half of Period 2 for that tie-breaking goal to come, but it was worth the wait for Blue Jackets fans as Zach Werenski would add goal number four to his season at 11:55! Denton Mateychuk would have the lone assist on Zach's goal, his second of the season. With no answer from the Blues, the Blue Jackets would carry a one-goal advantage into the final regulation period tonight in Nationwide Arena.

Early into Period 3, Ivan Provorov would be hooked by Blues' Nathan Walker, sending him to the box for two minutes and the Blue Jackets to their third power play tonight. The third time would prove to be the charm for Sean Monahan as he'd finally net goal one of his season at 5:07! Zach Werenski and Kirill Marchenko would each skate away from this goal with their sixth assists of the season. Bonus, with a 1-1-2 night, Zach Werenski would add yet another multipoint game to his NHL career with well over a period left to play. Unfortunately, the two-goal lead wouldn't last long. Captain Boone Jenner slapped the puck out of our zone, but instead of it going down the ice as planned, it went to Blues' Nick Bjugstad. His shot would result in his third goal of this season, and the Jackets' lead would be cut back to a goal at 9:48. Of course, these things happen, and the focus would remain on keeping, and if possible, expanding on the lead. Jet Greaves, the goaltender for the Blue Jackets this evening, would remain focused, leading to yet another amazing save tonight with just over five minutes remaining in the game. The Blue Jackets wouldn't get an empty net goal tonight, but they'd get what mattered, a fourth regulation win in a row and the 2 points that come with it!

With goal one of his season, Sean Monahan would skate away from tonight's game with the Third Star of the Game. It's also a career milestone for our number 23 as he adds point 600. Congratulations, Money!

After a 1-1-2 night, Zach Werenski adds another multipoint game as well as another Second Star of the Game to his NHL career.

With an impressive night in the Blue Jackets' home net, Jet Greaves would capture the First Star of the Game. He completed the night with a .949 save percentage after stopping 37 of the Blues' 39 shots.

The Blue Jackets will now go on the road with their first stop of five being New York. They'll have a 5:00 p.m. matchup with the Isalders tomorrow evening.

GO CBJ!!!!
