An Almost Jenner Hattrick And Chinakhov Wins In 8th Round Shootout!

We open Period 1, in Arizona, with a Coyotes goal from Dzingel.  Thankfully for the Columbus Blue Jackets Captain Boone Jenner would even the odds before the period ended.  The score would be 1-1 after 1 period of hockey.

Period 2 would result in a goal-for-all.  Kessel would score for the Coyotes, putting them up 2-1.  Their lead would be no more after 42 seconds of hockey.  Captain Jenner would score, again, tying the game at 2 goals each.  Seconds after Danforth proves 28-years-old is A-Okay for your first NHL goal.  Not only does he score his first but he also gives the CBJ their first goal lead of the evening.  Unfortunately the lead wouldn't last long, as Keller would score again for the Coyotes.  This would take us into Period 3 with a 3-3 tie.

In the final regulation period we'd see a lot of great defense.  A little over half way through the third period though we'd see our first Blue Jackets Hattrick of the season!  This would come from none other than our 7th franchise Captain, Boone Jenner.  The Blue Jackets would again take the lead, but again it sadly wouldn't last long.  Chychrun would score for the Coyotes.  This would take us to a 4-4 tie and you guessed it, Overtime!

Overtime can be summed up in two words, great hockey.  Both goaltenders had some amazing saves.  Both teams had some great chances to score.  However, at the end of Overtime we'd still have a tie.  Up next, shootout!

Galchenyuk would score for the Coyotes with their second attempt.  It's not over yet though 5th Line, as Voracek would score with the Blue Jackets third attempt.  The Shootout would go into Overtime.  It would go to a round 6, Chychrun would score for the Coyotes.  Then, Nyquist would answer!  Onto round 7.  Then, in the 8th round, Chinakhov would score!  It's all over!  Final score was 5-4, and if you didn't see it, oh did you miss a great one!  Wow!

Blue Jackets continue their road trip as they head to Vegas.  They will ante up, going for a possible 10-5-0 start to the 2021-22 NHL season!  Remember, with it being in Vegas the time for puck drop will be later; set for Saturday at 10:00 PM.

Note the Article title.  Update: Boone Jenner's third goal was actually not his, so sadly no hattrick this season yet for the Blue Jackets.  It seemed as though Jenner had hit the puck prior to it scoring, this was not the case.  His third goal and the fourth of the game goes to Werenski.  Still, It's a win in so many categories!

Go CBJ!
