A Narrow Blue Jackets Loss In Vancouver - 12/14/21

The Columbus Blue Jackets owned the first period tonight.  First, Robinson would find the net at 4:25.   The assists went to Texier and Werenski.  Domi would then find the net, for the second score of the night, at 11:37.  The assists went to Roslovic and Carlsson on this goal.  Then, right before the period finished, Robinson found the goal again at 16:18.  Texier would get another assist on this goal, and the second assist would go to Bayreuther.  The score would be 3-0, Blue Jackets over Canucks, at the end of 1.

In Period 2 we'd have a lot of great defense.  Only one goal would be scored during this period, and it would be by the Canucks.  Horvat would score at 7:41, with assists from Hughes and Boeser.  At the end of Period 2 the score would be 3-1, Blue Jackets still over Cunucks.

Going into Period 3, the Cunucks would find the goal again, early.  At 4:07 Pettersson would find the goal, with assists from Garland and Myers.  This would make the Blue Jackets lead only a goal, with the score now 3-2.  Unfortunately, Podkolzin would find the net, again, for the Canucks.  This would even the score at 3-3.  Assists on this goal would go to Canucks players Hughes and Myers.  The Canucks would then force a penalty and Power Play, with just over a minute left in regulation.  Horvat would score at 19:01.  The assists on his goal would go to Miller and Hughes.

The Blue Jackets would make some great attempts in the last seconds, but it wouldn't be enough.  Elvis made some great saves tonight also, but again it just wasn't enough.  The drive they had in the beginning needs to carry throughout the entire game.  That is what this team needs to work on, without a doubt.  This loss now makes the five game road trip 1-1-0.

Take note, the next game for the Blue Jackets is on the road and again in Canada.  This is significant as many of the Canadian teams are sadly seeing a Covid-19 virus surge.  The Canucks had several players out tonight.  The Edmonton Oilers, who the Blue Jackets are set to face next, in Edmonton, are facing these same issues.  The Oilers are in worse shape though, as all games have been placed on hold until this Thursday, at least.  This is a big deal as Thursday is our game with them.  So, we will have to wait and watch to see if this third game, of the five game road trip, can actually happen.  Hopefully so, but right now it is definitely in limbo.  If this game happens, puck drop will be late again, set for 9:00 PM EST.  Fun fact, the current weather is set to be a high of a degree, so perfectly chill weather for hockey!

Go CBJ!
