Blue Jackets Narrowly Lose To Stars, But Much Improved Game for CBJ Tonight!
It was a big night in Dallas for the Columbus Blue Jackets, as one player in particular played his very first NHL game. This was goaltender Daniil Tarasov who flew out to meet the team, today in Dallas, as both Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo both subsume to illness. The good news here is that both goaltenders don't have Covit-19, and that this young 22-year-old got to play tonight.
We do open the scoring very early, and for the Stars. At 1:08 Robertson would score and make it 1-0 Stars. It's all good though as Tarasov would get set in his net and the Columbus Blue Jackets would even the score, at 6:53, with a goal from Captain Boone Jenner. Say it with me, BOOOOOOONE!
Early into Period 2, at just 1:25, Alexander Texier would find his way to the net. It would be a tic-tac-toe situation with Gavrikov to Boqvist to Texier for the goal. It would take the Stars until 16:25 to even up the score on their end, making it 2-2, with a score from Sequin. Unfortunately, at 17:14 the Stars would take the lead again, 3-2, with another goal from Robertson.
In the third period we'd see an amazing penalty kill from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets would pull Tarasov for an extra man, in the end, but they wouldn't tie the game tonight. Even so, it was impressive that the Stars weren't able to score on the Blue Jackets empty net. The final score would result in a Dallas Stars Win, over the Blue Jackets, over the 3-2.
The Defense woke up tonight and protected their young goaltender on his first NHL night. The Offense kept pace and let this game far more than their last two. Compared to their last game in Nashville, against the Predators, this was a huge improvement. Tarasov had 34 total saves with 3 score on his goal, he did a good job, especially when you factor in that he flew to play in Dallas today.
Game 4, on the road, to end our road trip is in Washington against the Capitals. It's a huge rivalry and should be a fun night. This next game for the Blue Jackets is on Saturday, December 4th, with a set puck drop of 7:00 PM. The last time the Blue Jackets and Capitals met it was a close match on November 17th. The Capitals squeaked by with a win, just barely, with a final of 4-3. Call be a hopeful fan, as you should because I am, but I have a good feeling about Saturday after tonight. Don't you?
Go CBJ!
