The Good News And Bad News For Blue Jackets Regarding Covid (12/27/21)

Today we saw both good and bad news come from the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL team.  On one hand gaining back Jack Roslovic, after his required quarantine period ended, was a plus.  We also gained back some much needed defense, with Andrew Peeke and Gabriela Carlsson able to give the NHL a record of two negative Covid-19 tests.  Peeke had this to say, regarding this good news, in part.  "You see the guys coming back to the rink and start skating, you're itching to get back out there, and obviously you can't because you have COVID. For me, I didn't have any symptoms, so I thought there was a chance I would be able to test our early, and I was fortunate enough to be able to do that."  ( https://www.nhl.com/bluejackets/news/blue-jackets-welcome-three-back-to-practice/c-329239270).

The good news would end there though, as three players still remain in the NHL's Covid-19 protocols, including Blue Jackets Captain Boone Jenner.  There is a silver lining to this however, as they would be eligible to return on Thursday, just in time for the Predators to come to Nationwide Arena.  With that being said, they will probably not return game ready, so likely the Blue Jackets will be without at least 3 players, should they not have a 6th game postponed by the NHL.

Likely the worst news of all today is split between Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jakub Voracek.  As we saw three players leave the Covid-19 list, we saw one, Bjorkstrand, enter it.  This means he could test out, or could be away from the team till early January.  It is unknown how long  Voracek will be out, as he suffered some form of injury during the teams first practice back, Sunday

I think Head Coach Brad Larson said it best today, so I will quote him now to round out this post.  "What is it, Forrest Gump? It's a box of chocolates right now. You never know what you're gonna get. That's where we're at."  (https://www.nhl.com/bluejackets/news/blue-jackets-welcome-three-back-to-practice/c-329239270).  So true.  You can read more form Coach Larson at my source below.
