This Blue Jackets Team Will Go Places, Tonight's Game Reflects Such, So ignore the 5-2 Score! 1/21/22

In Period 1, Dumoulin would score for the Penguins just 0:32.  No worries, at 19:40 Nyquist would score for the Blue Jackets, evening the score at 1 goal each.  Jenner would then play his Captain way, and score at 18:46.  2-1 Blue Jackets.  Unfortunately, at 19:21 the Penguins would score again, by way of Crosby.  2-2 tie going into Period 2.  No goals would be found in that Period, so we jump to Period 3.

First, Matheson would score for the Penguins at 5:32.  Domi later on scored, but after a Penguin's challenge, the goal would be deemed no good due to "Off Sides".  Let me tell you, this was such a close call, and painful to see if you're a devoted 5th Line fan.  If that didn't hurt enough, the Crosby goal just rubbed salt in the wound at 13:32.  We just won't discuss the Crosby Hattrick at the end, which was an empty net.

You know I end my posts with the bright side.  So, what needs work?  The penalties need to END.  Also, the players must become more aware of where they are.  If they don't more goals will be lost, simply due to Off Side mistakes.

So, let's look at the bright side.  The Blue Jackets, who many people forget in the NHL, hung with one of the best team's in the NHL, for almost 50 minutes of a 60 minute game.  That's impressive.  If it hadn't been for an Off Side goal, and the Penguin's second goal easing it's way past Korpisalo, this would've likely been a different score.  However, a 5-2 victory is the end result for the Penguins.  It's okay though, there are still a few more meetings with this tea, this season.  We all know how the Blue Jackets can hold a game grudge, too!  Keep in mind the sweetest part of all, our game play made the Penguins switch their goaltender between Periods 1 and 2.  We didn't get the win, but we did shake them, and that's a nice take away to end on.

Also, and I'm ready for this to be met with unpopular option, but here goes.  Korpisalo, should not be traded.  He has had some incredible shot saves in his most recent games.  He is impressive, so long as he gets to play, with some kind of consistency.  This team can go far, so long as the team is set, and this team needs to be set.  No dramatic changes or trades.  If this can happen, the next years could be very exciting for Columbus.  Allow these men to know their goaltenders, allow them to grow with them, and it will pay off.

Next game is soon, Sunday at 6:00 PM EST, when the Senators come to Nationwide Arena.

Go CBJ!
