7-3, Blue Jackets Over Sabres In A Huge Night For CBJ!

Jenner adds more points to his Captain worthy record.  Laine's point streak advances to a game 9.  It was a bight night in Nationwide Arena, so let's relive it all!

Period 1, Blue Jackets Kukan would score his second goal of the NHL Season.  The assists on this goal went to Chinakhov and Domi.   Time of goal was 4:47.  Pysyk would ten score for the Sabres at 15L08.  This was then quickly followed up with another Sabres goal, at 17:14, by Thompson.  2-1 Sabres, but Jenner would have something to say about that!  At 17:24, Jenner would connect with Voracek and Laine for a goal.  This extends the Laine-Point-Streak, as I promised above, to a whopping 9 games!  You go Laine!  2-2 would be the score after 1 Period of play.

The second period would be special for Kukan, as he scores a second goal at 3:28.  This is his first multi-goal game in his career.  It's amazing to see this team achieve so much in the heat of this season.  Way to go Kukan!  At 8:16, #8 would get his 8th goal of the season.  Werenski would then score a goal of his own, making it 4-2.  A great rebound after another goal this period, by Laine, was determined to be off-sides.  The assists on the Werenski go to Bjorkstrand and another point to Captain Jenner.  Then, at 17:43, Gaunce scores the 5th Blue Jackets goal of the night.  The assists went to Laine and another point to Kukan.  At the very end of the period though, the Sabres would score again.  This goal came from Okposo at 19:28.  As I said, last second goal.  Even with that score the Blue Jackets would maintain their lead of 5-3.

In Period 3 we would only see two goals, both from the Blue Jackets, and both in the games last seconds!  The first would come from Nyquist at 19:24.  The assists went to Kuraly and Gavrikov.  Then, after the Sabres goaltender returned, Danforth would anounce that he's returned to the team after a knee injury.  He'd score the 7th goal of the night, at 19:56, without an assist!  The final was 7-3 Blue Jackets.  14 goals in the last 2 games, GO CBJ!

Berube performed excilent in the Blue Jackets net.  You would never know, based off tonight, that his last NHL start was back in April of 2018.  Well done to him, stepping up big time for the team!  He got the third star of the game and definitely earned it tonight.  While we're at it, Gaunce earned himself the second star of the game.  While Kukan achieved the 1st star of the game, after his first multi-goal game, and added on an assist too!  Well done to all 3 stars.

The Maple Leafs will come to Nationwide Arena on Tuesday, February 22nd.  The puck drop will be our typical 7:00 PM EST.  To recap, 25-24-1 is the Blue Jacket updated season record.  The Laine point streak continues, now at 9 games total.  He has 10 goals and 8 assists.  Berube did great in his first NHL game in just under 4 years.  Kukan was on fire, with his first multi-goal game, ever.  Captain Jenner is closing in on 40 points this season, so far.  It's a great hight to ride for this team, and I can't wait for Tuesday.

Go CBJ!
