Blue Jackets Add Another To The Win Category Against Canadians! 2/12/22

It's amazing to say that every point today had Laine in the mix.  Just 1:16 into the game, Oliver Bjorkstrand found the Canadians net, with an assist from Laine.  It would take until the third period for another score to happen.  This would be from Canadians Caufield at 2:55.  The game would be tied at 1-1 until just second before an expected Overtime.  At 19:52 Laine says "no way" to Overtime, when he finds the back of the Canadians net.  The assists for this goal go to Zach Werenski and Jake Voracek.  The Blue Jackets win, 2-1!

Bjorkstrand now expands his goal streak to 2 games.  Laine has to be the big story, even with an All-Star Game break, he's currently riding a 6 game point streak.  This includes 7 goals and 3 assists (stats via Columbus Blue Jackets Facebook Post on February 11th, 2022.).  The young player has found his stride and it's incredible to see, especially after the loss of his dad and an injury which forced him out for weeks last November.   Further, his ability to come through in the moments of pressure, be it the last seconds of a game or Overtime, is just amazing.  A huge congratulations to him.

Also, Merzlikins had some difficult saves tonight.  He let 1 goal go tonight.  With 31 total shots on his Blue Jackets goal, that's a huge win for himself as well.  As a comparison, the Canadians had 42 total on theirs.  Not only is this a great showing for Elvis, but it's also a great showing for our Offense, who are stepping up and gaining some serious belief in their game, and ability to win.  Today was a great day all around.  Also, I'm fair to all opponents we face, as you all know.  When put next to the last game, against the Canadians, against the last one, the Canadians have improved.  It is inspired to meet a former Blue Jacket as a Head Coach, anywhere within the league.  Martin St. Louis has taken over for the Canadians, and I can't wait to see what he does, especially if he's kept past this season.  Today though you could see the shift in this struggling team, and I encourage such an outcome, at this point.  fro a far bigger reason than just his Blue Jackets connection.

Next game is at the Flames!  It's Tuesday, February 15th.  Puck drop is later, not till 9:00 PM EST.  A few housekeeping notes to pass on.  Remember, tomorrow the Ohio Bengals are in Super Bowl LVI (56) tomorrow night!  Another note, Valentine's Day is Monday February 14th, so this is your friendly Hockey Blogger reminder to keep you out of the penalty box, don't forget!

Until then, Go CBJ!
