Blue Jackets Beat Blackhawks At Home, 7-4, And The First CBJ Hattrick This Season Comes For A Fiery Laine!

It was goals galore in Chicago tonight!  I've started this halfway through Period 3, hoping I'd be done by the end of the game.  I'm not kidding.  So, let's recap this game!

Period 1 Blue Jackets Captain Jenner starts the scoring at 6:58.  Credit to Voracek and Werenski for assists.  Then we'd hear from one of the youngest Blue Jackets, Chinakhov at 7:11.  Assists to Nyquist and Sillinger.  At 10:24 Kurashev would score for the Blackhawks.  Carpenter would then tie the game at 2 goals each, at 14:21.  However, Domi would get the lead back for the Blue Jackets at 16:55.  3-2 after just one period!

Period 2 would start with a bang!  Play would stop as the Blue Jackets players, on the ice, saw the puck cross the Blackhawks goal line at just 0:09 into the period!  The game tape was reviewed and the goal was confirmed!  Gavrikov and Captain Jenner would be gifted the assists.  This makes it an 8 Game Point Streak for Laine!  I'll have his updated numbers at the end of this game recap, because there's more to come from him.  At 18:02 Entwistle would score for the Blackhawks.  The Blackhawks had some other close attempts, but this was their only goal of Period 2.  4-3 Blue Jackets at the end of Period 2.

At 7:58 we have another Laine goal!  Assist to only Captain Jenner, who had a huge night.  DeBrincat would score for the Blackhawks then, at 8:58, making it 5-4 Blue Jackets.  We hadn't heard from Bjorkstrand yet though, and he wasn't okay with being left out of the highlight real tonight!  At 11:57 we have a goal from Bjorkstrand, with assists to Domi and another one for Werenski.  The perfect icing on the cake, Laine gets the empty net goal to end the game!  This is the first Hattrick of the 2021-22 NHL Season for the Blue Jackets, too!  A huge congrats to him.  The final was 7-4 Blue Jackets Win.  Patrik Laine's point streak is a now incredible 10 goals and 6 assists over his last 8 games!  Wow.

Incase you lost count, here is everyone's final numbers for just tonight.

Domi:  1 goal 1 assist.

Chinakhov:  1 goal 1 assist.

Jenner:  1 goal 2 assists.

Laine: 3 goals.

Werenski:  2 assists.

Bjorkstrand:  1 goal

Nyquist: 1 assist.

Sillinger:  1 assist.

Voracek:  1 assist.

Gavrikov:  1 assist.

Goodness what a roll call.  Well, for those fans saying our offense wasn't involved enough, I think they proved you wrong tonight!  Merzlikins also had a great night, and a serious workout.  The Blackhawks didn't take it easy on him and he helped pull off this win, too.  This road trip was the best of this season, by far, with a 4-1-0 ending.

Alright, let's do this again on Sunday, shall we?  The guy's come home to Nationwide Arena, finally.  The Sabres will come to our home and puck drop is 6:00 PM EST.

Go CBJ!
