Werenski Out, Merzlikins Still Day-To-Day And More Lineup Shifts Tonight- 2/24/22

Okay, let's not panic 5th Line, but with that being said there are a lot of changes ahead of tonight's Panthers game, in Florida. Regarding Werenski, the Blue Jackets PR Twitter Account (Retweeted by Jeff Svoboda) said this well, so I'm going to just post the Tweet here as explanation.  Normally I don't do this, but this is a big update, and I haven't had coffee yet.  I don't want to confuse anyone, so this is the official update:  "INJURY UPDATE: #CBJ defenseman Zach Werenski did not make the trip with the club to Florida/Carolina.  He is day-to-day with an upper body injury."  Hopefully this is a 2-game injury situation and we'll have him back on Sunday, when the team plays the Penguins at home.  You may wonder who will go in for the incredible Werenski tonight, against one of the best NHL teams.  Carlsson has been granted such opportunity, and I'm sure he'll do great as he has before.  Good luck to him, and rest easy Werenski.

Other updates, it will obviously be Berube or Graves in net.  The team has unfortunately placed Merzlikins back on the Blue Jackets Injury Reserve List.  This update is still due to that same "lower body injury", which has plagued him since February 17th of this year.  Again, regarding the Goaltender I'll reference a complete Jeff Svoboda Tweet here.  "#CBJ head coach Brad Larsen will speak later this morning about the lineup for tonight but it looks like Berube will make a third straight start.  My guess is this move, though, is less about Elvis and more about other players. Neither Werenski nor Voracek practiced yesterday."  Regarding Voracek, this surprises me and no official word on his condition has been give by Jeff Svoboda or Blue Jackets PR, yet.  He took a maintenance day this week, but given he had his family with him at the rink, I'd believed it to be a day off.  I'm quickly learning that a "maintenance" day is something to always report on, my bad.

Final note, two players have been brought back from the Monsters.  These two players Bemstrom (Forward position) and also Christiansen (Defense Position).  Both names we've heard regularly this 2021-22 NHL Season, and that likely won't come to an end anytime soon.

If there are any other updates I'll let you know.  Again, don't panic 5th Line, we've seeing a massive improvement from this team in recent games.  The men who will replace our injured regulars are talented, and I have every faith that when we meet the Panthers tonight, third time will be the charm, for a W!

Go CBJ!

3)  "The Blue Jackets have placed goaltender Elvis Merzlikins on IR retroactive to February 17 and recalled F Emil Bemstrom and D Jake Christiansen from AHL Cleveland.
