4-3 Blue Jackets Over Devils! 3/1/22

At just 0:54 seconds into the Devils visit to Columbus they scored.  This goal came from Hughes.  1-0 Devils over Blue Jackets.  However, this Devils lead wouldn't last long.  Christiansen would score his very first NHL goal, and such would be the first Blue Jackets goal of the night and his career, too.  A wise "emergency recall" Blue Jackets!  This came at 13:08, and the assists went to Sillinger and the Ambassador of the night, for "Hockey is For Everyone Night" Domi!  1-1 tie between the visiting Devils and Blue Jackets.  Then, at 17:35 Bjorkstrand found the Devils net!  This gives the Blue Jackets their first point lead of the night at 2-1.  The assists on this goal would go to Voracek and Roslovic.  Also, way to get into thee game Bayreuther, who got a 5-minute minor for "fighting" in this period.  

At just 0:46 into Period 2, Captain Jenner would find the goal.  This would take the Blue Jackets up 3-1.  Assists would go to Laine, and again Voracek.  At 16:00 exactly Hischier would score for the Devils however, and the score after 2 periods would be a close 3-2, but still a Blue Jackets lead.  

It would be another quick draw again as Period 3 got underway.  Laine would have another goal, his astonishing 20th of the 2021-22 NHL Season.  The goal would come at 1:18, with assists to Captain Jenner and Carlson.  4-2 Blue Jackets.  That score would last a little over 6:00, because at 7:07 Zacha would score for the Devils.  4-3 lead for the Blue Jackets still.  

Merzlikins was on it tonight.  Yes, he let a few goals by him, however some of his goal crossing, split saves were just incredible.  It's good to see Merzlikins style return to the net.  

As for the Blue Jackets Offense, they had an incredible night.  Captain Jenner, Voracek, and Laine would all have a multi-point night.  Bjorkstrand had a goal, Domi had an assists Roslovic would have an assist and so would Sillinger.  It's great to be repeating these common names so often now in my game reviews.  This is the consistency I knew was possible months ago, as I said then, it just took time and practice for the men to mesh as a team.  

The next game is at Nationwide Arena on March 4th.  The L.A. Kings will make the far trip from California.  The good news for them, it won't be too cold in Columbus until they meet us all at center ice!  Puck drop is 7:00 PM EST.

Zach Werenski Adds Another Achievement to His 2024-25 NHL Season

Normally, I have to share articles by the NHL because I'm usually working when this kind of news is announced, but today, I'm not! Zach Werenski is proving to doubters that this NHL Season will go down as one of the best in his career. Today, we learned of another achievement he's added to the long list of record-breaking moments, point streaks, and team-leading assists and total points. Zach Werenski, across the league, has added the Third Star of January to this list now, too. Aside from his spectacular goal last night to clench the win for his team in overtime at the Utah Hockey Club, the man has poured on the points in the first month of 2025. His total for just 31 days was six goals and eleven assists for a grand total of seventeen points. He accomplished this over the span of just fourteen games. New York Islanders @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 4/17/25

And so it comes to an end: The season that started as a nightmare ends in a way we could've only dreamed. Yes, I know we're not chasing a Stanley Cup in 2025, but for how this season began...this season shouldn't have ended like this. I'm optimistic, even in light of injuries, pain, and loss, and even I wouldn't have thought that we'd battle the Montreal Canadians for the final Eastern Wild Card spot at game 82 this season. I sure as hell wouldn't have predicted some of the numbers our Blue Jackets put up this season either. I am so proud of this team and where they're going.
