Captain Boone Jenner Out Until Further Notice (Joins Many Other Blue Jackets On IR)- 3/12/22

Okay, I know this is a bit late, but if anyone was put on IR I expected it to be Voracek and/or Laine.  Both had troubling knee contact last night and didn't play again afterword.  I was at the game last night, did the recap late, got a bit of book work done, went to bed.  Today, bam, Boone Jenner's...out?  Did not see this coming, but sports are unpredictable, injuries even more so.  

Currently, the amount of knowledge surrounding this injury isn't much.  However, what we do know is concerning.  The Blue Jackets Captain reportedly suffered a back injury, during last nights shootout win, against the Wild.  I didn't see where this happened, and honest it's easier to see injuries when watching at home, than in an arena.  I've quickly realized that after last night's game.  With that being said, this could be from a hit or just a wrong turn.  When I was a sophomore in high school I twisted wrong throwing a shotput in practice, I missed 6 weeks of a 7 week season, roughly.  How this happened is a bit unclear to me, and the wrong movement seems possible to me.  If there had been a bad hit on Boone Jenner, Nationwide Arena would've gone nuts, just like with Voracek's collision with  Marcus Foligno.  

Regardless, this injury has placed Jenner in the week-to-week category.  Such is incredibly disheartening.  The team is trying to make a final push for the playoffs.  We have Texier out due to family loss, which in itself is sad.  We also have on Offense Danforth, and according to CBSSports Laine and Voracek on IR.  While Danforth is out as well on the Defensive side of the Blue Jackets Lineup.  (I'll follow up after investigating this Laine and Voracek IR placement, I haven't seen the team actually say this yet.  However, it very well could be true after last night.)  

With Jenner out it's tome for the Columbus Blue Jackets to pull another player from the AHL Monsters.  We'll see Fix-Wolansky back in the lineup, likely tomorrow against the Golden Knights, given all the other injuries.  They pulled him up for a specific player void and reason.  I see no way he doesn't play tomorrow night.  This season with the Blue Jackets he had 1 Goal and 1 Assist, for 2 total points, over a 5 game timeframe.  He's good and that's a very good thing.  For this team to stay in the hunt and close in on the Capitals, they need goals.  This is something we've seen Fix-Wolansky deliver on.  However, oh Captain our Captain, we hope you return soon.

Zach Werenski Adds Another Achievement to His 2024-25 NHL Season

Normally, I have to share articles by the NHL because I'm usually working when this kind of news is announced, but today, I'm not! Zach Werenski is proving to doubters that this NHL Season will go down as one of the best in his career. Today, we learned of another achievement he's added to the long list of record-breaking moments, point streaks, and team-leading assists and total points. Zach Werenski, across the league, has added the Third Star of January to this list now, too. Aside from his spectacular goal last night to clench the win for his team in overtime at the Utah Hockey Club, the man has poured on the points in the first month of 2025. His total for just 31 days was six goals and eleven assists for a grand total of seventeen points. He accomplished this over the span of just fourteen games. New York Islanders @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 4/17/25

And so it comes to an end: The season that started as a nightmare ends in a way we could've only dreamed. Yes, I know we're not chasing a Stanley Cup in 2025, but for how this season began...this season shouldn't have ended like this. I'm optimistic, even in light of injuries, pain, and loss, and even I wouldn't have thought that we'd battle the Montreal Canadians for the final Eastern Wild Card spot at game 82 this season.
