News On Boqvist, Werenski, Korpisalo, Bean and More Blue Jackets Today- 3/1/22

Yesterday on my Facebook page, @Bluejacketblogger, some fans and I discussed who Jake Christiansen had been recalled for, on emergency, from the AHL Cleveland Monsters.  Now we know that he will take Boqvist spot in the Blue Jackets lineup, tonight.  Unfortunately, as with Werenski, we have no idea how long Boqvist will be out.  All that Jeff Svoboda could report from his conversation with Head Coach Brad Larson today was that it's an "Upper-Body injury" and he can't give a "timetable" regarding a return date from said injury.  Definitely wishing Boqvist the best, right now.   

The Blue Jackets goal will also be guarded by Merzlikins tonight.  I don't find this surprising, the previous game was a narrow, 1-goal loss, and a controversial one to boot.  I won't say anything further on such, as that game is in the past.    

Regarding other players.  Again via Jeff Svoboda's keen eye at practice today, I can happily inform you that Defenseman Werenski, Defenseman Bean, Left Wing Robinson, and Goaltender Korpisalo were all back at practice this morning.  Nothing has been reported about yet as to them being game ready, but this is definitely a skate in the right direction!  It will be huge to have those 4 men return.   

Remember, tonight is the Devils at Nationwide Arena.  Puck drop is 7:00 PM EST.  It's also "Hockey is For Everyone Night" with Ambassador Max Domi.  It will be a special night for all, especially your female, vision impaired sports blogger, because hockey is truly for everyone.  Enjoy tonight!

Zach Werenski Adds Another Achievement to His 2024-25 NHL Season

Normally, I have to share articles by the NHL because I'm usually working when this kind of news is announced, but today, I'm not! Zach Werenski is proving to doubters that this NHL Season will go down as one of the best in his career. Today, we learned of another achievement he's added to the long list of record-breaking moments, point streaks, and team-leading assists and total points. Zach Werenski, across the league, has added the Third Star of January to this list now, too. Aside from his spectacular goal last night to clench the win for his team in overtime at the Utah Hockey Club, the man has poured on the points in the first month of 2025. His total for just 31 days was six goals and eleven assists for a grand total of seventeen points. He accomplished this over the span of just fourteen games. New York Islanders @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 4/17/25

And so it comes to an end: The season that started as a nightmare ends in a way we could've only dreamed. Yes, I know we're not chasing a Stanley Cup in 2025, but for how this season began...this season shouldn't have ended like this. I'm optimistic, even in light of injuries, pain, and loss, and even I wouldn't have thought that we'd battle the Montreal Canadians for the final Eastern Wild Card spot at game 82 this season. I sure as hell wouldn't have predicted some of the numbers our Blue Jackets put up this season either. I am so proud of this team and where they're going.
