Who's In Net And Who's Returning (Hint Werenski!) - 3/4/22

Okay, lets go in the order I did the title, to keep the flow of the post.  First off we know who will be in net tonight.  The L. A. Kings will be facing Merzlikins in the Blue Jackets net.  With his last game being a win, I have no doubt he's ready to go after a few days break back home.  Good luck, Elvis!

Now, who's returning?  Defenseman Werenski, after returning to practice about a week ago, will join the regular roster again, tonight.  It will be so good to see him return as his value on the team is undeniable.  Good luck to him!

Returning to the lineup is a young player who has only improved with each game he's played.  Chinakhov has had 5 goals and 6 assists in 43 games.  His confidence is growing with shooting the puck and seeking it out.  At age 21 this Right Winger has a lot of great hockey ahead of him, starting tonight when he rejoins the Blue Jackets team in competition.  Good luck to him as well!  

With Werenski able to return it's no surprised that Christensen has been scratched for tonight's L. A. Kings game.  Also, as I reported on Tuesday night, Gaunce is injured.  As such, he also won't be playing tonight in Nationwide Arena.  

One more note via Blue Jackets PR, retweeted by Jeff Svoboda.  "TRANSACTION: #CBJ have placed defenseman Adam Boqvist on Injured Reserve retroactive to Feb. 27. He is day-to-day with an upper body injury suffered against the Penguins on Sunday."  Again, this is no surprise, we knew this was coming.  However, seeing it as official does make the news sadly real.  I wish him a speedy recovery.  

Tonight's game is on Bally Sports Ohio.  So, pregame is at 6:30 and puck drop is 7:00 PM EST.  Also, to my devoted readers, I'll be at the game tonight!  My postgame report might be a bit later than normal.  Thank you for understanding!

Zach Werenski Adds Another Achievement to His 2024-25 NHL Season

Normally, I have to share articles by the NHL because I'm usually working when this kind of news is announced, but today, I'm not! Zach Werenski is proving to doubters that this NHL Season will go down as one of the best in his career. Today, we learned of another achievement he's added to the long list of record-breaking moments, point streaks, and team-leading assists and total points. Zach Werenski, across the league, has added the Third Star of January to this list now, too. Aside from his spectacular goal last night to clench the win for his team in overtime at the Utah Hockey Club, the man has poured on the points in the first month of 2025. His total for just 31 days was six goals and eleven assists for a grand total of seventeen points. He accomplished this over the span of just fourteen games. New York Islanders @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 4/17/25

And so it comes to an end: The season that started as a nightmare ends in a way we could've only dreamed. Yes, I know we're not chasing a Stanley Cup in 2025, but for how this season began...this season shouldn't have ended like this. I'm optimistic, even in light of injuries, pain, and loss, and even I wouldn't have thought that we'd battle the Montreal Canadians for the final Eastern Wild Card spot at game 82 this season.
