Blue Jackets Show Lightning They Can't Strike Twice In Home At Home Series! CBJ Win 5-2 on 4/28/22

Tonight was all the 5th Line could've hoped for to close out the Columbus Blue Jackets 2021-22 NHL Home Season.  It was so nice to be with you all again 5th Line and although this season hasn't even ended yet officially, I'm already so excited for next year.  Tonight gave some good examples as to why!

Period 1 the Blue Jackets would open the scoring, at home, against the Lightning.  At 16:03 Voracek would score his 6th goal of the season.  Assists on this goal would go to Johnson, marking his 3rd this season and also 3rd point in the NHL and also Carlson, his 6th of the season.  After 1 period this would be the only goal, resulting in an early 1-0 lead.

Period 2, at 10:15, Kucherov would score for the Lightning.  The would enjoy the tie for 0:32, then Sillinger would score his 16th goal of his NHL season, at 10:47!  Assists on this goal went to Bjorkstrand, his 29th of the season and Kukan, his 8th of the season.   After this we'd head into Period 3 with another single goal lead for the Blue Jackets, 2-1.

Period 3 would be fun, for the Blue Jackets, anyway.  The team would come out swinging, as Roslovic would find the Lightning net at just 0:15 into the period!  This would mark his 22nd goal of the season.  Nyquist would gain his 34th assist, while Bean would gain his 17th.  At 9:05, Bjorkstrand would score a goal, all on his own.  This would take the score up to a 4-1 Blue Jackets lead.  At 16:54, Perry would find the net for the Lightning, but they wouldn't find another goal for the rest of the game.  At 18:09, Peeke would find the empty net and seal the deal for the Blue Jackets.  The final in the last home game of the season, your Columbus Blue Jackets hand the 2 time Stanley Cup Champions a 5-2 loss!

I won't get too drawn out on the season until tomorrow night's final game of the season.  However, I'll say this much, it was a great atmosphere tonight in Nationwide Arena.  I got to meet a few of my readers, which has never happened before.  A group of guys seated behind my mom and I brought their friend to his first Blue Jackets game.  Another group down a few rows had a young boy, who turned 10 today.  Winning never hurts, either!  It was a great night all around.  I have high hopes for this team tomorrow night, as they close out the 2021-22 NHL Season with a road game against the Penguins in Pittsburgh and beyond.  Why?  I'm a proud member of the 5th Line and this is my NHL team.  The next few weeks I'll cover our traded guys in the Playoffs, but make no mistake, the CBJ isn't just my hometown team, but my team, period.  Through the ups and downs, trades, signings, a new Head Coach and so many new young players this season, I'm incredibly impressed and proud of my team.  No doubt.  I can't wait to close out another season with you all tomorrow night, before we go into what is sure to be a very eventful and exciting off season.  Then again though, when are they not?

Go CBJ!
