Blue Jackets Show Up, But It's Not Enough, Fall To Lightning 4-1 on 4/26/22
Period 1 scoring would be opened by the home team, Tampa Bay Lightning. At just 1:37 into the game, Kucherov would score the first goal tonight. So, 1-0 Lightning, already. However, at 2:59 Bjorkstrand would score one for the Blue Jackets! Roslovic and the newly returned, again, Werenski would gain the assists on his goal. It would remain a 1-1 game until the Lightning would score their second goal of the night, by way of Stamkos, at 16:47. After an eventful first period, the score would be 2-1, in favor of the Lightning.
Period 2 would see only one goal. Unfortunately, it would be a Lightning goal. Stamkos would score his second of the night at 7:29. This would take the score, after 2 periods, to 3-1.
In Period 3 the Lightning would score one last time. Palat would score at 14:53. No empty net tonight and a 4-1 Win for the Lightning, over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
So, looking at this game as a whole, I'm impressed. I'll explain why for those about to leave this post. This is the 2 time Stanley Cup Championship team, who is already playoff bound again. They've been blowing out teams with ease lately, we're talking 6, 7, and even 8 goal games. 4-1, with who we're missing, is a solid showing. Especially when you consider Werenski was back, but lost time due to a bloody situation, having taken a puck to his nose bridge in Period 1. Elvis had some great saves. The Offense was in the game and so was the Defense. If I were Larson tonight, I wouldn't be too upset.
So, the Lightning played their last home game tonight, now it is sadly our turn. Thursday night is the final Columbus Blue Jackets home game of the 2021-22 NHL Season. If that makes you a bit teary eyed, I won't judge. Actually, I'll likely join in with you. This off season will be eventful though. For all the signing's we've had, there are plenty more question marks to fill in before the 2022-23 NHL Season drops it's first puck.
I'll have any updates before then on this blog, as I'm sure there might be a few. The last "Skate Space" with Jeff Svoboda and Dylan Tryer is tomorrow night. So, if you can jump on Twitter and join us! 6:00 PM EST start.
Go CBJ!
