CBJ WINS 4-2 AT FLYERS! 4/5/22
Believe it or not, after the scrappy game against the Bruins, in Nationwide Arena, all Blue Jackets were present and accounted for tonight in Philly. The Blue Jackets would also come onto the Flyers ice hot. The first goal would go to the Blue Jackets by way of Gaunce at just 2:38 into Period 1. An assist would go to Meyer, the Columbus native who played his second NHL game tonight. While the second assist would go to Robinson. So, remember Meyer? Of course you do! about 10 minutes after his first career assist, he'd get his first career goal in the NHL! It's been a great year for first time NHL players scoring goals. Right now there are 4 on the current Columbus Blue Jackets roster, while 3 of them started out in the AAA Junior Jackets program. I think it's working 5th Line! On this goal Werenski would gain another assist point this season, while Robinson would gain his second assist of this game. At 17:35 though, Cates would score for the Flyers, making the score after Period 1 2-1, in favor of our CBJ.
Period 2 would be defense heavy as only 1 goal would be scored. Unfortunately, it would come from Van Riems of the Flyers, taking us to a 2-2 tie after Period 2.
In Period 3 we'd also have to wait a long time for another score. However, that's nothing for how long we had to wait for a Blue Jackets Powerplay. The team would finally gain one over half way through the period and Danforth, at 13:16, would cash in. The assists would go to Bean and Kuraly. In the last few seconds we'd see an Empty Net goal from Kuraly, leading to a 4-2 BLUE JACKETS WIN! Also, let's be honest tonight was a double win after we saw Sillinger slide that puck to Kuraly, when he could've shot the goal for himself. Proud night for Ohio. Nyquist would get the second assist on that Kuraly goal, also.
Elvis had 49 shots on his net and only 2 got through. He worked incredibly hard to keep this team in it and such finally paid off for the Blue Jackets. Meyer had his first NHL assist and goal, woo-hoo for him. Robinson had 2 assists. Also, goodbye losing streak! 2 points to take home as the team will now host the Flyers on Thursday at 7:00 PM EST.
Speaking of, April 7th will also be Columbus Blue Jackets Military Appreciation Night. Donations for the USO will be collected prior to game time and you can go to Bluejackets.com to find out what items to donate. Being from a military family I thank you all now and will do so in my post on Thursday, also. More so than ever we see how freedom is truly not free. Thank you for everything you do military members.
Enjoy the WIN 5th Line!
Go CBJ!
