Roslovic Gets The OVERTIME Win In Detroit! 4/9/22

Tonight wound up being a beyond expected, special night for Columbus Blue Jackets Jack Roslovic.  Not only would tonight be his 300th career NHL game, but he'd also have the 1st and only goal in the 1st period!  It would come at 13:14.  Aft first it was said to be unassisted, but that changed according to the NHL App.  Werenski would come out with the lone assist on this goal.  As I said, this was the only goal of the period, thus a 1-0 Blue Jackets lead after Period 1.

Period 2 I'd leave to go eat a couple beef fajitas and miss 3 goals in 1 period!  The first would come from Red Wings Vrana at 13:41.  This would be followed by another Red Wings goal of Gagner's at 17:21.  This would give the Red Wings their first lead of the game, but it wasn't meant to last long.  At 18:01 Sillinger would connect with Werenski and Voracek, making it 2-2 after Period 2.  It is worth mentioning that the Red Wings did score early into this period also, however it was reversed after a Red Wings player ran into Goaltender Elvis Merzlikins.  Due to those actions Merzlikins had no chance to stop the puck and thus the goal was reversed.  Right call and thankfully both players were alright after the collision. On to Period 3 we go.

Roslovic would add to his special night at 4:04, tacking on his 2nd goal of the night.  Laine would get the assist point on this goal.  This gives Roslovic 14 goals this season.  When you add in his 20 assist it gives him a 34 point total this season.  We're not done with goals yet though 5th Line.  After an incredible save by Merzlikins, Danforth would put it away into the Red Wings net at 12:24.  Assists would go to Roslovic who had an incredible night.  Second assist went to Nyquist, his 26th of the season.  Now, the game would take a nail biting turn at 15:35.  Larkin would score for the Red Wings.  This goal was another instance of a near net Blue Jackets Defender protecting the net, which obstructs Merzlikins view.  Now, the second goal after that from Vrana, at 16:33, was the smallest window which he scored through.  This would make it 4-4 quickly, with just minutes to go in Period 3.

Now, with little time left there would be another collision, at the Merzlikins net.  Now, I'm going to phone a friend, AKA include what Jeff Svoboda posted after, because this turned into a huge...disagreement.  Jeff Svoboda:  "My bad here, the original penalty is on Larkin for goaltender interference, as he collided into Merzlikins as he came out to play the puck. Which is why Peeke went after him, which is why everything else happens #CBJ" It goes without saying that this game was far from stale. Also, Overtime we go!

There would be a bit of a Powerplay remaining for the Blue Jackets, after the...disagreement. After some nail biting time, again, Roslovic would come away with a 3 goal Hattrick! This marks his first in a Columbus Blue Jackets Jersey, on the night of his 300th NHL Career Game no less. Well done and congratulations to him. 4 points on the night for Roslovic. The goal came at 3:12 in Overtime, assists went to Nyquist, who had 2 tonight, and Werenski who had 3!

It was a big night of exciting hockey. Multiple scores by multiple players, even a Hattrick, what a night. Merzlikins also did a great job. Yes, 4 got through, but he had some stops which kept this team in this game for sure.

The team will take a few days to rest and won't see the game again until Wednesday. Also, we're coming home 5th Line! The Canadians will come down from, where else, Canada. 7:00 PM Puck drop in Nationwide Arena all. Any other updates before then I'll bring you here on my blog!

Go CBJ!
