Post Season Wrap Up- Alexander Texier (Includes Today's Update)
So, today I'd planned to highlight another player, I won't lie. However, now that we finally have an update from Alexander Texier, that changed everything. I know many have been concerned about him, myself included. I'll recap his 2021-22 NHL Season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, then give you the update.
The 22-year-old Center appeared in 32 games this 2021-22 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL Season. He was injured when the team played the Flames, in Calgary, on January 26th. In this game he broke a finger on his stick handling hand. You'd never know this though if you just looked at his season numbers. With 11 goals and 9 assists, for a total of 20 points, he wasn't the highest scorer on the team. However, he was also far from the lowest too. He'd been set to return from the broken finger after about 4 weeks. When he didn't trade rumors surfaced, due to it being just a few weeks from the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline. However, we found out the situation was far more sad.
Alexander Texier had returned to his home in France, not to rest up his broken finger, but to be with his family in a difficult time. Reports were that he'd lost multiple family members/people close to him. It was devestating for not just the team but also the 5th Line. We all wished him the best, but did our best to give him the privacy he and his family deserved. Still, the worry got the better of us as the season wound down, then ended last week. Today, we thankfully got an update regarding Texier, and it's a promising one.
I'm very happy to tell you all that Alexander Texier will return to the game of professional hockey next week. When the World Championships 2022 begin, Texier will be in the lineup for his home country, France. This is great news as when Texier was injured, then experienced more than one somber loss within his family, he was playing some of the best hockey we'd seen from him, ever.
I wish Texier the very best of luck and look forward to seeing #42 next season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
