The 2022 Stanley Cup Preview- 5/2/22
It's that time of year already, the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs kick off tonight! Although the Columbus Blue Jackets aren't in it, many former players of the Columbus Blue Jackets are. Tonight we'll see 4 games on ESPN and ESPN 2, depending on your area. Here's a breakdown of each game and which Blue Jackets are on each team.
7:00 PM EST Boston Bruins @ Carolina Hurricanes
If you're a Columbus Blue Jacket fan of the most recent two season teams, this incredible matchup might tear your red, white and blue heart in two. The Bruins have likely one of the most notable Columbus Blue Jackets on their team, former Captain, Nick Foligno. Look for him on the Left Wing, tonight. As for the Hurricanes they have a newly acquired 2022 Trade Deadline player, Max Domi. He was the only player traded that day by the Columbus Blue Jackets, so if you're new to the 5th Line, Domi is likely the name you'll know best. As for those a bit more veteran to the 5th Line, Ian Cole is also part of the Hurricanes. You can look for both men, Domi at the Center position and Cole with the Defensive Line, tonight.
7:30 PM EST Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs
No Columbus Blue Jackets in this that I've found. However, this series starts tonight and promises to be an incredible one to watch. In both 2020 and 2021 the Tampa Bay Lightning took home the Stanley Cup. Tonight, the Maple Leafs will work toward preventing the Lightning from charging ahead and clenching a third cup in a row. Being The CBJ Blogger I'll likely be watching Boston @ Hurricanes, however, I might go back and watch this one later!
9:30 PM EST St. Louis Blues @ Minnesota Wild
So, all of these matchups promise to be good ones. This one though I could see being another great one which might stand out just a hair more to the others. Why? Before the Tampa Bay Lightning captured the Stanley Cup the past two years, in 2019, the champions were the St. Louis Blues. Add in that the Minnesota Wild acquired Marc-Andre Fleury at the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline, and you'll understand why this game is sure to be compelling. As for former Columbus Blue Jackets, the Blues have Left Winger Brandon Saad. While the Wild have no one that I found. So, if your focus is on cheering for Columbus Blue Jackets players only, this game will be an easy one to pick sides in!
10:00 PM EST L.A. Kings @ Edmonton Oilers
The late game tonight, in Canada, is the L.A. Kings @ Edmonton Oilers. These are two teams who've stood out recently and fought hard for their spot in a stacked NHL West. Again, no former Columbus Blue Jackets in this game, which makes my night a bit easier, but still this does promise to be another great series in this Stanley Cup Playoff. Again, these teams fought till the near end of the season to secure their spot in this post season. No doubt, both teams are ready to continue that fight, wanting to make it to round 2 and beyond.
Good luck to all the teams tonight and former Columbus Blue Jackets playing for the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup! Also, thank you two the fans who helped me check every NHL teams in this years playoffs, for former Columbus Blue Jackets players. There are a lot of players in this league. Please, if you find I've missed anyone, share the name below in the comments. Thanks!
