It's All Over, After Review The Avalanche Overtime Goal Counts, And The Colorado Avalanche Is Stanley Cup Final Bound! 6/6/22

Based off the first goal tonight coming from the Avalanche at just 3:46 into Period 1, from Maker, I for one believed that this would turn into an easy sweep for the Colorado Avalanche.  The team was up 3 games to 0 against the Oilers going into Game 4 tonight.  This feeling became all the more strong when Period 1 ended with that being the only goal scored tonight so far.  However, don't be so fast to bet against thee Oilers, they had a surprise coming for us all in Period 2.

At 7:39 the Oilers would get on the board with a goal from Hyman.  Then at 16:57 Nugent-Hopkins would score, giving the Oilers their first lead of the night.  The Oilers would then expand on this lead with a goal from McDavid at 18:54.  The momentum shift in Period 2 would result in the Oilers having a 3-1 lead over the Avalanche, heading into Period 3.

The Avalanche would come back into this game with a quick goal in Period 3 however.  At just 0:31 into the final period of regulation play, Toews would score.  This would take the Oilers lead to a single goal, 3-2.  This margin wouldn't last long though as the Oilers would answer, by way of Hyman again, at 3:55.  This would take the Oilers goal lead back to 2, with a 4-2 lead against the Avalanche in Game 4.  The Avalanche would crowed Oilers goaltender, Smith, and gain another goal though.  This one from Landeskog at 8:56.  This would make the score 4-3.  Then, the Avalanche would come back to fully tie this game, with a goal from MacKinnon at 13:30.  With another goal from Rantanen at 14:47, the Avalanche would regain the lead at 5-4.  Oh, but wait Oilers fans, their not done yet!  With a goal from Kassian at 16:38 the Oilers would then tie the game, again!  This goal would close out the scoring for regulation, as the Oilers would force Overtime against the Avalanche.

With 3 goals from the Avalanche and 3 goals from the Oilers in Period 3 alone, Overtime promised to be just as exciting.  It was exiting, for about a minute anyway, and even more exciting for the Colorado Avalanche.  They would score, by way of Lehkonen, just 1:19 into the Overtime Period, forced by the Oilers.  Oh, so close for them to force a Game 5 in Colorado, but it wasn't to be.

It was an amazing run for the Oilers though, as they carried all of Canada with them to the Conference Finals.  I'm so sad to see this series end so soon.  However, the Oilers put up the best fight they could tonight to make it go on, no doubt.  More over, I personally believe this tonight was the best Conference Final this season, so far.  A huge congrats to the Oilers.

As for the Colorado Avalanche, they will go on to play for the 2022 Stanley Cup!  For right now they will get a rest though, as the series between the Rangers and Lightning goes on.  The Rangers currently lead the series 2-1, so there are at least 2 more games there to be played.  Once that is over the true competition begins, as the two best NHL Teams will battle for Lord Stanley's Cup!

Congratulations to the Colorado Avalanche on their Western Conference Title and bid to the 2022 Stanley Cup!
