The Colorado Avalanche Are Your 2022 Stanley Cup Champions!

Tonight's Game 6 in Tampa would start off with a Lightning Spark, a goal from Captain Stamkos at 3:48, which would give them a 1-0 lead going into Period 2.  However, the Colorado Avalanche would bounce back strong, scoring by way of MacKinnon at just 1:42, then Lehkonen at 12:28.  This would give the Avalanche a 2-1 lead which they would defend the entire third period.  With no goals scored in the final 20 minutes, the Avalanche would hold on to claim the 2022 Stanley Cup!

It's all over in 6 Games and although it would've been cool to see the Lightning win a third cup in a row, I can't deny how fun it is to report a new Stanley Cup Champion.  I started writing in May of 2020, right as the Canadian Bubble Stanley Cup Championship got underway.  So that year and the next would belong to the Tampa Bay Lightning.  However, 2022 belongs to the new Stanley Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche.  Congratulations to them on winning their first cup since 2001!

As for the Lighting, I'd be lying if I said I couldn't see them back in championship contention soon.  They didn't capture their third cup in a row, but they did win two back-to-back Stanley Cups, along with three consecutive Eastern Conference Championships.  That is no small accomplishment, by far.  Well done to them on an amazing run in this NHL Season and the last two as well.

A huge Columbus congratulations to former Blue Jackets Jack Johnson and Ryan Murray, who tonight is a Stanley Cup Champion!

Cale Maker would skate away with the highest achievement for an NHL Defender in 2022, claiming the Norris Trophy on Sunday night.  He also takes home the MVP Trophy, also known as the Conn Smythe Trophy, tonight.  What a memorable night for him.

A personal take away I think we should all see tonight, paying your due is worth it.  Many men on this Colorado Avalanche team have been on this team for years.  They faced the lowest lows and the most bitter defeats, before tasting sweet victory tonight.  A team. especially a winning team, isn't built overnight.  It is assembled over time.

The next big moment in the NHL will be the 2022 Draft on Thursday, July 7th, 2022.  What future stars will emerge from such?  I can't wait to find out with you NHL Fans.
