Third Win In A Row For Lighting, Now Lead Series 3-2 With Game 6 In Tampa Saturday! 6/9/22

The first Period of this Game 5, Eastern Conference Final, was something to behold.  There were attempts from both Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers to score, but the opposing team and its goaltender said "no way".  0-0 after 20 minutes of hockey.

Period 2 we'd see the two teams trade goals.  First would come from the home team, New York Rangers, by way of Lindgren at 10:29.  Afterwards, the Tampa Bay Lightning would respond quickly.  From Sergachev, the goal would come at 17:34, knotting the game at 1-1 after 40.

Just as with Period 1, Period 3 would be full of amazing chances, as well as a few missing players.  Even without Ryan McDonagh off the ice and in the dressing room for an injury, the Rangers continued to fight for that lead goal.  The Lighting of course wouldn't give them an inch, fighting for their own leading goal.  As I said, this has been a great series and this game, like many others, didn't disappoint.   With less that 2 minutes remaining however, someone had to make it happen and it would be Sergachev, at 18:10.  2-1 Lightning.  This would be followed by a Lightning, Empty Net Goal, as the Rangers pulled goalie Shesterkin.  The Empty Net Goal would come at 19:01 from Hagel.  3-1 Lighting and this would be the final score of Game 5.

At the end of the game there would be a huge, on ice rumble after a traded check between Fox and Kucherov.  Everyone on the ice, for the most part, would then join in to aid their fellow players.  The most interesting fight to come from this, and yes we're talking fists and helmets flying, was between  Stamkos and Lafreniere.  Fireworks in Madison Square Garden for sure!  This was expected in my mind though, tensions are now high as the Lightning have broken the Rangers 8 game home win streak.  Further, the series they once led 2-0, is now one they are losing 3-2, after dropping their following 3 games to the Lightning.  It's now do or be done for the Rangers as they pack for Tampa Bay and Game 6.  It will be on ESPN, Saturday night at 8:00 PM EST.  Trust me, you won't want to miss this!
