Blue Jackets Sign Back A Center In 2-Way Deal! 7/1/22

Hello 5th Line!  First and foremost, happy 4th of July weekend to you all.  I have more news for you all.  No, it isn't a Patrik Laine or Nick Blankenburg signing, but this is still a good one.  Last season the team ran into the boards, so to speak, when it came to the Center position.  Toward the end of the season Alexander Texier had to step away from the game, first due to a broken finger and then for family loss.  Not long after, Captain Boone Jenner was also sidelined, due to a back injury.  The depth of a team is always important, so having available Centers we can pull from the AHL, will always be a must.  This is especially true if the team wants to make a deep, playoff push in the 2022-23 Season.

With that all being said, enter Josh Dunne.  Today the 23-year-old Center inked a deal for an addition year, as a Columbus Blue Jacket.  His initial deal was an Entry Level Contract, signed back in 2021 for 2 years.  This past season he saw NHL play for the first time.  Although he had no goals in his first 6 games, he did spend 4 minutes in the Blue Jackets Penalty Box.  While with his AHL Cleveland Monsters however, he had much more success in every section of the game.  Dunne had 6 goals, 5 assists and a whopping 39 minutes in that Monsters Penalty Box.

I'll be very curious to see where Dunne lands this season.  Coach Larson is a firm believer that each player starts at the level when training camp begins.  Maybe over the summer, with this new contract, Dunne will translate that winning ability from the AHL to the NHL.  After all, a 6'4, 240 lb. player on the ice, in any position, can make a huge impression on an opponent
