Big Day For Blue Jackets 2022 Draft Pick David Jiricek At World Juniors 2022 Day 1- 8/9/22

If drafted or current Columbus Blue Jackets have a big moment in the IIHF 2022 World Juniors Championships, I'll post about it.  Today David Jiricek gets us going with two big moments in one game, the first for his country, Czechia, in these championships.  Not only did David Jiricek have an assist in the second period from Martin Rysavy, another Blue Jacket name to watch for, but he was also named the "player of the game" for his countries team, Czechia.  This was revealed in a video posted to Twitter upon the games 5-4 final.  Chechia would narrowly pull out a huge win over a talented team Slovakia.

A huge congratulations to Jiricek.  He looked great in the Columbus Blue Jackets Development Camp a few weeks back, then looks like this in the IIHF World Juniors?  I'm starting to believe he might be the first 2022 Draft pick we see in an NHL Game this season.  It's incredible, we needed another standout defenseman and I believe we got just that in this young player.

Going forward you can look for Jiricek wearing the #5 jersey in these championships.   Rysavy will be in #29.  Another player to watch for us on team Czechia, who didn't score today but played is Stanislav Svozil, who is wearing #14.  In addition to these 3 players, we also have Kent Johnson in the mix on Team Canada.  They will play Team Latvia tomorrow, when I see his number posted I'll update you on my social media pages!
