Cole Sillinger Injury Update- 9/29/22

Thanks to eyes on the ice (Jeff Svoboda) I can pass on to you 5th Line that Cole Sillinger, number 34 himself, is back at practice.  He's very restricted, based on Jeff's cited Tweets below, but he is back with the team.  As many of you will remember, Cole Sillinger suffered an Upper Body Injury just as camp got underway, which resulted in him missing a chance at both the split presseason games against the Penguins and last night against the Sabres.  This is great news in my mind, because it means he could be available come October 12th (when the season begins) or on October 14th (the home opener).  Right now, both nights are up in the air still, regarding the starting lines (particularly what we all expect to be line 1).  We've seen Boone Jenner, Cole Sillinger and Kent Johnson centering Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau in practice.  However, who will get the honor to start this season is unsure, because any seem to work in the middle.  It's an incredible problem to have, but I also want to see the best player take the job.  For that to happen, all three players have to be injury free.  Fingers crossed this is a skate in the right direction for Cole Sillinger to be a factor in such an important decision, which will be made sooner than later.

Go CBJ!

Jeff Svoboda Tweets on 9/29/22

"Cole Sillinger (upper body) is on the ice — and in a normal sweater, not in a no-contact jersey — for the #CBJ non-game group practice today."

"Doesn't look like Cole Sillinger is going through any of the contact drills today, but in the meantime, he's doing things like skating his butt off from one side of the red line to the other. Making up for lost time. #CBJ"
