Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 2022-23 NHL Season Game Recap 22

Even with a goal at 6:34 by A. Czarnik and another at 17:36, by D. Kubalik, the Blue Jackets were giving the Red Wings a decent fight.  However, the Red Wings would lead 2-0 after Period 1.

Period 2 would start off with yet another Red Wings goal, this one from L. Raymond at 7:03.  Then, the Blue Jackets would break though at 16:10, with Marcus Bjork's second goal of his 2022-23 NHL Season!  An eight assist to Captain Boone Jenner and a seventh assist on the season going to Jack Roslovic.  So, this period would end with a 3-1 Red Wings lead.

Period 3 would continue the interesting evening.  At 1:59 the Blue Jackets would come within a goal of the Red Wings, thanks to Kent Johnson's sixth goal of this season!  Assists on this goal would go to Johnny Gaudreau, who is already up to eighteen this first season as a Blue Jacket.  Secondary assist would go to Boone Jenner, his eighth of this season.  After this a shocking moment would happen.  The Red Wings would score, but Head Coach Brad Larson would challenge it and WIN!  (Go on, count how many times that's happened, I'll wait.  Should take you only a few seconds!)  Anyway, that goal would come off the scoreboard for Offsides.  Unfortunately, it would only help us for a blink of an eye.  At 6:08 A. Copp would score for the Red Wings, taking them to a 4-2 lead.  The Blue Jackets would take Korpisalo out of the net for a 6 on 5 chance to tie the game, but tonight it wasn't in the stars.  An upside though, they wouldn't allow the Red Wings to score again on that empty net.  So, that's something.

Again, as I said Friday evening, the Red Wings are a good team this season.  The Blue Jackets played well tonight, but it just wasn't enough.  Also, the Red Wings wanted redemption, that 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights isn't an easy puck to swallow, especially in your home arena, a fact we know 5th Line.

Game 23 of this 2022-23 NHL Season will be Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 PM, against the Penguins in Pitsburgh.  If an update comes for Vladislav Gavrikhov, who left the game in Period 2, I'll let you know once I know.  I like to end on a high note, if possible, and tonight it is.  Third Star tonight does go to Captain Boone Jenner.  He had an 0-2-2 night.

Go CBJ!
