Columbus Blue Jackets @ Dallas Stars: 2/18/23 (You Cannot Make This Stuff Up!)

It didn't seem enough to start this blog with the line "you cannot make this stuff up," so I put it in the title! This was a fantastic game, so we're recapping it after just a two-sentence intro!

Leam Foudy, a Columbus Blue Jackets who's been waiting a very long time for his first regular-season goal, finally had his moment tonight in Dallas. Goal one of this game would be his at 17:41! Jack Roslivic would get his twenty-sixth assist on this goal, while Emil Bemstrom would get his ninth. This period would end with that goal being the only one so far, giving the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead.

This second period is when it gets interesting! The Dallas Stars would technically have three goals in this second period; however, only one would count. The first goal would be removed from the board due to the scoring player being "offsides." The second goal for the Stars would count and come from T. Dellandrerea at 6:29, taking us to a 1-1 tie. The third goal for the Stars would be challenged and removed from the board, as the Stars player who would've scored interfered with our goaltender, Joonas Korpisalo. That 1-1 tie would take us into Period 2. (To those wondering, yes, I'm shocked we had two challenges go our way in a game, let alone one period!)

At 5:49, Adam Boqvist would give himself a three-game point streak with his second goal this season! The new "A" (Sean Kuraly) would have the primary assist on this goal, giving him five this season, while the secondary assist would go to Mathieu Olivier, his seventh. Mathieu Olivier would then score his fourth goal of the season, giving his Jackets a 3-1 lead. Eric Robinson would add his ninth assist this season on the Olivier goal, while Sean Kuraly would add his sixth assist and second tonight. Then, this interesting night would just turn stunning. Eric Robinson would have a shot at the empty net but would be brought down by a Stars player. Since the Stars net was empty, so they could have another man on the ice, no penalty shot was awarded; Robinson was just given the goal he would've scored without the Stars players' actions! Mathieu Olivier would gain another assist on this goal, giving him his second tonight and number eight this season. The final tonight would be a Blue Jackets win, 4-1, over the Stars. We take the 2 points as even more encouragement that this team is finding its identity!

Star Two of the Game: Adam Boqvist, who, with his second-period tiebreaking goal, led the Jackets to this win.

Star One of the Game: Joonas Korpisalo, who had 29 shots on his net and denied 28 of them! (This is his second Star One in a row, too!)

We'll be back in action tomorrow evening as the Blue Jackets travel to Arizona to take on the Coyotes. The puck drop will happen at 8:30 PM, so take note! What a night and win, wow!

GO CBJ!
