Jake Christiansen Gets Columbus Blue Jackets First Off-season Contract Extension! 6/5/23

It's our first contract extension of this 2023 NHL off-season and it's a smart move by management in my opinion. Jake Christiansen is a young defenseman who gained more experience in both the AHL and NHL last season, on top of his seasons prior. He's an important piece to both the Monsters and Blue Jackets future and it's amazing to see he'll be here for the next season (2023-24). No amount of payment has been disclosed yet that I've seen, but we do have plenty of cap space to better this team, but also keep moving parts that have proven their worth.  Last season he appeared in 24 games and had 4 assists. Given the inconsistency of him being here (flipping between two teams) I think that's pretty good.  In addition, he played 50 games in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters. Over that time he had 11 goals and 23 assists for a total of 34 points. I can't wait to see what he'll accomplish this season.

Welcome back, Christiansen!
