Columbus Blue Jackets @ Dallas Stars: 10/30/23 Game Recap

Traveling to Dallas to face the Stars always promises to be a good game, and tonight didn't disappoint! This game wouldn't sleep on us either, as Thomas Harley would break through with goal one tonight at just 0:27 for the Stars. The Stars' 1-0 lead wouldn't last long, though, as Dmitri Voronkov would score NHL Career Goal 1 at 4:37! Cole Sillinger would add his third assist on this important goal for Voronkov, while Kent Johnson would add number two to his total. Voronkov wasn't the only Blue Jacket to have his first goal tonight; at 13:41, Damon Severson would score his first wearing our colors, too! Adam Fantilli would have his third assist on this monumental goal for Severson, while Zach Werenski would add his fourth. This would bring us to a 2-1 Blue Jackets lead and the end of period 1.

Period 2 would see the equalizer for the home team, thanks to a goal from Stars' Boope Hintz at 5:52. There would be another goal from them later on in the period, but their attempt to go a goal ahead would be challenged by the Blue Jackets. Surprisingly, we won this challenge (and this has to be a record for us!) No other goals would come in these twenty minutes, and so we'd be going into period 3 with a heated battle for a goal to break this tie!

Unfortunately, the Stars would strike first in this period. Worse, this goal would come at 2:49 from former Blue Jacket Matt Duchene. The constant push from Elvis Merzlikins to save any shot that came near him and the drive of our offense to score again was not in short amount after that Stars' goal. Then, a powerplay would come, and so would another Stars' goal. At 12:25, Evgenli Dadonov would take the score 4-2 Stars'. This would expand to a 5-2 Stars' lead at 18:20 due to an open net for Wyatt Johnston. But the celebration was premature for the Stars' as Sean Kuraly would score at 17:08! Ivan Proverov continues putting up assists with his seventh this season, while Mathieu Oliver would add his second. 5-3 would be your final, and the Stars' would take this game. That said, it's nice to see this team not roll over in period 3 when down by multiple goals.

On Thursday, we'll return home for a bolt of a good time as the Tampa Bay Lightning come to play in Nationwide Arena! This game will start at 7:00 p.m.

Go CBJ!
