Columbus Blue Jackets @ Philidelphia Flyers: 11/19/2023 Game Recap

It's been a busy 24 hours as the Blue Jackets play their second away game in roughly a day. The hosting Flyers would get their first goal as Joel Farabee, 5:11 into period 1. The Blue Jackets Alexander Texier would even the odds at 1-1 with his fourth goal of this season. His goal would come at 15:02, giving Sean Kuraly and Mathieu Olivier their third assists this season. With no other goals, we'd start a fresh game in period 2 with the score 1-1. Mathieu Olivier and Nicolas Deslauriers would get into a fight during this period, too, but since nothing came of it beyond 5-minute penalties for both me, I'm not spending much time on it.

The Flyers would then have a quick start in the second twenty minutes. Bobby Brink would get the puck past Spencer Martin just 1:11 in. On our powerplay, Ryan Poehling would give his Flyers a two-goal advantage at 6:41. I'm happy to report that Captain Boone Jenner scored his eighth goal this season and got us back one at 17:57. Ivan Proverov gains another assist on this Jenner goal, the primary, taking him to eleven already this season. Also, Johnny Gaudreau has the secondary assist, giving him six this season and a two-game point streak. With the last 2:03 being played out with no further scores, it's a 3-2 Flyers lead going into the last twenty minutes of regulation this evening.

The score would shift to favor the Flyers by two goals again at 12:40 after a goal from Travis Konecny. The Blue Jackets would continue to struggle to find the net, and with Spencer Martin out of it for a sixth player, Cam York would put the game away at 17:34. The final tonight in Philly would be a 5-2 victory for them.

Our next game will be on Wednesday, November 22. Conner Bedard will play his first game in Nationwide Arena, and that will be cool to see. When the puck is dropped, though, the game will be on for the 1st overall (Bedard) and 3rd overall (Fantilli) 2023 Draft Picks. I expect a hard-fought game from both and hope to see the Blue Jackets work their way back into the win column. Game Start is set for 7:00 p.m.
