St. Louis Blues @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 12/8/23 Game Recap

The Blue Jackets would search for redemption before the crowd on First Responders Night 2023, and Kirill Marchanko would waste no time getting them started! Just 1:42 into period 1, he would ship his ninth goal of his season past Joel Hofer in the Blues' net. Dmitri Voronkov would add assist number eight to his season total, while Yegor Chinakov would add his third. At 14:36, Blues' Robert Thomas would score for the visiting team. But, at 17:01, Adam Fantilli would score his eight goal this season and his third in just two days! That's our 1st Round Pick! Kent Johnson would also have his third assist in just two nights, giving him five already this season. Emil Bemstrom is up to three with his secondary assist on this goal. The line of Bemstrom, Fantilli, and Johnson hasn't disappointed, and I'm sure it is making Michigan University very proud, too; what a line. With no more scoring in this period, it would be a good 2-1 Blue Jackets lead. This score would hold through all of period 2 to make matters better. Then, Yegor Chinakov would light the ice on fire in period three!

With two goals this period, at 6:26 and 12:21, Yegor Chinakov would take the score to a 4-1 Blue Jackets lead! These would be his fourth and fifth goals of his 2023 NHL Season. The first goal would have an assist from Kirill Marchenko, his seventh this season, giving him a multipoint night. Also, Dmitri Voronkov would add his ninth this season and second assist tonight. Chinakov's second goal would be all his own! At 17:38, Robert Thomas would cut the deficit by a goal, but the Blue Jackets would continue to lead by two. With seconds left at 19:55, Alexander Texier would pop goal five of his season into an open Blues' net, and that's all she wrote! The Blue Jackets would win on First Responders Night 5-2, and it would be a special night for goalie Jet Grieves as he marks his very first win in the NHL. A huge congratulations to him and the team on a great win. He would also acquire at .953% as he'd go on to stop 41 out of the 43 total shots on him by the Blues tonight.

On a more serious note, Boone Jenner would take a puck to the face in period 2. He would remain out for the rest of the game. I wish him the best.

Our next game I will be working during. It is Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against the Florida Panthers in Nationwide Arena. I won't be able to do a recap, but you better believe I'll be wearing one of my many hoodies to work!

Go CBJ!
