Columbus Blue Jackets @ St. Louis Blues: 2024-25 NHL Preseason Game 6

After period 1 ended scoreless, period 2 would yield three total goals. The first would belong to the home team as J. Faulk would score on the powerplay, giving the Blues a 1-0 lead at 3:21. The Blue Jackets would have a quick response on their own powerplay at 7:43.Yegor Chinakov would be credited for the tying goal, his first this preseason. Adam Fantilli would continue adding points to his successful second NHL Preseason with the primary assist, and Dimitri Voronkov would add the secondary assist to his preseason point. The third goal this period would be the final of the period and at even strength; it would also be in favor of the visiting Blue Jackets! The puck would drop, Luca Del Bel Belluz would glide it toward Gavin Brindley and he'd send it to the back of the Blues net! The Blue Jackets would gain their first lead of the evening at 13:42. Again, that'd be the final goal of the period meaning the Blue Jackets would carry a single-goal lead into the last 20 minutes of regulation.

Jake Christiansen would have a tripping penalty just 0:20 into the third period, but the remaining Blue Jackets would kill it off with ease. Then, nearly halfway through the period, a fight between Blue Jackets Mathieu Oliver and Blues T. Tucker would result in both men getting a 5-minute penalty. During this time, former Blue Jacket, Alexander Texier, would take his shot at the net but Blue Jackets Goalie, Jet Greaves, wouldn't let the puck past him. The Blues would continue to push, but in the end, it wouldn't be enough and the visiting Blue Jackets would score one more goal by way of Mathieu Oliver at 19:59. The goal would have just one assist, and that would be added to (no surprise here) Adam Fantilli! He'd be the only player tonight to have a multipoint game, finishing 0-2-2. So, with a final of 4-1, the Blue Jackets are now 4-2-0 this preseason! In addition to Mathieu Oliver having yet another goal in yet another preseason game, Jet Greaves had a great night, finishing with a .957 save percentage thanks to his 22 saves on the 23 total Blues shots. Indeed, a great night for the Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets will now fly home from St. Louis and enjoy a bit of downtime before the rival Pittsburgh Penguins arrive in town Thursday! This is the last NHL Preseason game for our Blue Jackets. I do have to work that night, but rest assured there will be a game recap when we fly to play our final preseason game in Pittsburgh on Friday, October, 4th. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.

GO CBJ!
