Columbus Blue Jackets @ Anaheim Ducks: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 14

The Blue Jackets were in search of a win to forget last night's 5-2 loss to the L. A. Kings. With Daniil Tarasov in net, the Blue Jackets would charge onto the ice and although the first goal would belong to B. Larson at 3:13 (the primary assist going to C. Gauthier, his fifth this season, and the secondary going to R. Johnston, his second this season) the Jackets' would persist and come up with the games next goal. Yegor Chinakov would score his fourth goal this season, and on the powerplay to boot! His goal would come at 16:16 and even the game at 1-1. Zach Werenski, who also celebrates his 500th NHL Game tonight, would come away with the primary assist on this powerplay goal, his seventh already this season. The secondary assist would go to Karill Marchenko who continues to show he's a key part of this team; this is his ninth assist this season. The goal from Yegor Chinakov would be the final of this period, and the score would merge into period two tied at 1-1.

Just as they did in period one, the Ducks would strike first again in period two. Their second goal would come at 4:22 and come from J. LaCombe, his first this season. The primary assist would go to R. Gudas, his second this season while the secondary assist would go to T. Terry, his sixth this season. The period would conclude with this being the solo goal, giving the Ducks a 2-1, single-goal advantage heading into the final regulation period.

The Ducks scoring would continue into period three with a goal from L. Carisson at 10:20, his fifth goal this season. B, Dumoulin would add the third assist of his season with the primary while R, Strome adds his fourth with the secondary. This would put the Blue Jackets at a two-goal deficit with the Ducks leading 3-1, but then, Kirill Marchenko would come through with his ninth goal of the game at 16:57! The goal would have no assists and put the Blue Jackets back within a goal of tying this game, but it wasn't to last as they'd pull Daniil Terasov from the net and the Ducks would capitalize with their fourth goal of the night. The empty net goal would come from LI. Lundestrom and it would be his second goal this season. The primary assist would belong to F. Vatrano and be his fourth this season while B. McGinn would take the secondary with his third assist this season. This would be the final goal of the game resulting in a Ducks 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets will have a day to refresh and regroup before their next road game on Tuesday. They will face the Seattle Kraken in Seattle with a puck drop time scheduled for 10:00 p.m. Let's hope for some late night luck then. And thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today, love you, 5th Line!

Go CBJ!
