Columbus Blue Jackets @ Philidelphia Flyers: 4/15/25

Tonight's final road game of the 2024-25 NHL Season would be an interesting one. A win tonight was mandatory for the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets to stay in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoff hunt. Period one would end as it began, with a 0-0 tie.

Period two would be far more fruitful with goals. The first would come from Dante Fabro, giving him eight this season, at 2:32! The primary assist became number fifty-seven of the season for Zach Werenski, while the secondary became number thirty-six for Sean Monahan. The period would then conclude with a second goal for the Blue Jackets at 17:01 from Kent Johnson, his twenty-fourth this season! Sean Monahan would add his thirty-seventh assist of the season on this goal, while Zach Werenski would add his fifty-eighth on the secondary. So, after forty minutes of play, the Blue Jackets would carry a two-goal lead into period three.

At 13:28, Adam Fantilli would hit his first thirty-goal season in the NHL! Kirill Marchenko would have the primary assist on this goal, thanks to a wicked pass, and this would become his forty-second this season. The secondary assist would go to Ivan Provorov, becoming his twenty-sixth this season. The Blue Jackets would bounce back from a dull period one to win 3-0, shutting out the Flyers. This is Jet Greaves's second shutout in three games! Jet continues to shine, helping to lead this team to a fifth-straight win and the fourth since he came up on emergency recall from the AHL and played the same night! He earned the First Star of the Week in the NHL last week, and he could be well on his way to win it again in the final week of the regular season, too!

So, with the Blue Jackets' win tonight, they now sit at 87 points. I hope you're all ready to become Carolina Hurricanes fans tomorrow night, 5th Line! We need them to beat the Montreal Canadians in Montreal tomorrow night. If that happens, and we win Thursday, well, we'll be in a spot we haven't been in since I started covering this team in May of 2020. The Canadians' loss and the Blue Jackets' win must be in regulation; no overtime or shootout will do.

The Second Star of the Game goes to Dante Fabro, who finished with a 1-0-1 night, coming away with the first and game-winning goal.

The First Star of the Game goes to none other than Mr. Perfect, Jet Greaves, who finished with a 1.00 save percentage, stopping 29 of 29 Flyers' shorts on his net.

Special Note: Adam Fantilli now has thirty goals in his second career season as an NHL player. A thirty-goal second season hasn't happened since Rick Nash did it himself in his second season with the franchise. What an accomplishment for the twenty-year-old!

Bonus: Defenseman and 2025 King Clancy nominee Zach Werenski, 22-58-80, becomes the first in his position to hit 80 points in an NHL Season. He joins Artemi Panarin as the only two men to reach that total in our franchise's history across all positions!

The Blue Jackets' final game of the regular season begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be at home in Nationwide Arena. We will welcome the New York Islanders.

GO CBJ!
