With the 20th Pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, The Columbus Blue Jackets Select...

Pyotr Andreyanov, welcome to the Columbus Blue Jackets! Meredith Gaudreau would return with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to announce the Columbus Blue Jackets' second pick in the first round. They would elect to take a goaltender from Cska Jr. of Russia, Pyotr Andreyanov. He wasn't present at the draft, but I'm sure this is a huge moment for him back in Russia.

The young man is in a junior league, but his numbers are impressive. He had a .942 save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average last season. This combined led him to a 23-6-6 record. Central Scouting has high respect in the league, and Pyotr Andreyanov was ranked first in the pool of international goaltenders. (Source Jeff Svoboda @Jacketsinsider on X.)

I've already seen some fans question taking a goalie with our second, first-round pick. I have to be honest, I think if we'd waited, Pyotr Andreyanov would've been gone with numbers like this. Teams will always need goalies, and again, even as a junior-level player, those numbers are impressive. Further, with Pavel Cajan no longer with the Cleveland Monsters, Daniil Tarasov traded to the Florida Panthers yesterday, and Jet Greaves on his way to the NHL, another good goalie in the pipeline was a necessity. I'm eager to see how this young man develops. If his numbers remain solid he could be a big piece of the Blue Jackets' future without question.

Congratulations, Pyotr Andreyanov!
