St. Louis Blues @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 2025 Preseason Game 1

Thank you so much for being patient, 5th Line. I got to listen to this exciting win at work, but had to wait until I got home to do the recap for you all. Period 1 would conclude with a 0-0 tie, but Period 2 would see the Blue Jackets get on the board in a big way. Brendan Gaunce would score his first goal of the preseason since rejoining the franchise at 2:41. Dimitri Voronkov would add the only assist, his first of the preseason, on this goal. Luca Del Bel Belluz would then make it 2-0 with his first goal of the preseason at 15:42. Jake Christiansen would add his first assist of the preseason with the primary, while Dimitri Voronkov would add his second on the secondary. The St. Louis Blues would get a goal back at 16:58 as Niita Alexandro would score his first goal of his preseason. Justin Carbonneau would add his first assist of the preseason on the primary, while Milan Lucic would add his first assist of the preseason on the secondary. So, the Blue Jackets would take a one-goal lead into period three.

Dimitri Voronkov's night would continue as he'd add his first goal of the preseason at 17:31 in the final period of regulation. This would take him to a 1-2-3 night! Luca Del Bel Belluz would add his first assist of the preseason on this goal, giving himself a 1-1-2 night. And, with the secondary assist, Hudson Fasching would add his first assist of the preseason on this goal, too. Mathieu Oliver would close out the game, scoring his first goal of the preseason at 19:37. This goal would be scored on an empty St. Louis Blues' net and solidify the Blue Jackets' 4-1 win! The only assist on this goal would go to Brendan Smith, his first of the preseason.

The Third Star of the Game went to goalie Ivan Fedotov. He played the first two periods of this game and finished with a .933 save percentage. He accomplished this by stopping 14 of the Blues' 15 shots on his net.

The Second Star of the Game went to Luca Del Bel Belluz, finishing with a 1-1-2 night.

The First Star of the Game went to Dimitri Voronkov, no surprise, as he finished with a 1-2-3 night.

There's always room for improvement, but for the first preseason game, I was impressed by the team that played tonight in Nationwide Arena. The guys were fast and took chances to score, which paid off. I look forward to seeing the team put together that'll play the Buffalo Sabers tomorrow night. This will be the second of the Blue Jackets' seven preseason games, the second of four in a row. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. in Nationwide Arena.

Go CBJ!
