Columbus Blue Jackets @ Carolina Hurricanes: Season 25 Game 28

Tonight's game would be fast and furious, but the Blue Jackets would handle this well, especially against one of the better teams in their division. Only one goal would come out of Period 1, and it'd belong to the visiting team! With Tyler Hall in the box for the Hurricanes after tripping Isac Lundestrom, Dimiteri Voronkov would add goal eleven to his season on the power play at 12:39. Sean Monahan adds assist number twelve to his season with the primary, while the secondary assist becomes number fifteen this season for Kirill Marchenko. The Hurricanes would lead in shots, 9-6, but this period would end with the Blue Jackets in the lead, 1-0!

The speed would not let up in Period 2, and the Hurricanes would continuously push for a goal. Two powerful and skilled Hurricanes would eventually get the puck past Jet Greaves, who was spectacular the whole game. Seth Jarvis would add goal number seventeen to his season at 9:42. The only assist on this goal for the Hurricanes would go to Andrei Svechnikov, and it would become his ninth this season. The two teams would have ample chance to break the 1-1 tie for the rest of the middle period, but it wouldn't happen, taking us to a competitive Period 3. The Hurricanes would continue leading shots on goal with this period, too,13-8.

Period 3 would see more great hockey as both teams would drive to break the tie. Former Blue Jacket Eric Robinson would do just that with his sixth goal this season at 7:53. Taylor Hall would end up adding his ninth assist this season with the primary, while Joel Nystrom would add his fourth with the secondary.  Unfortunately, the penalty box would plague the Blue Jackets again. After killing off a Cole Sillinger slashing at 9:33, Kirill Marchenko would go off the ice at 13:18 for high-sticking. Jordan Staal would make the Blue Jackets play with his ninth goal this season, taking his Hurricanes to a 3-1 home ice lead. Andrei Svechnikov would gain a multipoint night with the primary assist on this goal, his tenth this season, while Shayne Gostisbehere adds his nineteenth on the secondary. Towards the end of the game, the Blue Jackets would get a power play while Jet Greaves was on the bench, but it would take seconds for the Hurricanes to score goal four tonight. Jordan Martinook adds his fourth goal this season with a shortie into our empty net at 18:45. K'Andre Miller gets assist number eleven on the primary, while the secondary goes to Sean Walker, giving him his sixth this season. The Hurricanes would kill the remaining power play time for the Blue Jackets and go on to win 4-1. The Blue Jackets would win the shots on goal battle in the last period 10-9, but ouch.

Seth Jarvis got the Third Star of the Game with his 1-0-1 night. Hurricanes goalie, Brandon Bussi, finishes the night with the Second Star of the Game after a .958 save percentage with 23 stops on the Blue Jackets' 24 shots. The First Star of the Game goes to Jordan Staal, who had the third goal for the Hurricanes. I must say, I'm surprised Eric Robinson didn't get a star tonight, given he had the second goal tonight for the Hurricanes, and the game-winner?

The Blue Jackets will now fly home for their next game at Nationwide Arena on Thursday. We'll host the Ottawa Senators with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m.
