Vegas Golden Knights @ Columbus Blue Jackets: Season 25 12/13/25

The Vegas Golden Knights might have 39 points and be at the top of the Pacific Division, but the Blue Jackets, who currently sit at 32 points and just outside the wildcard spot, held their own tonight on home ice. Charlie Coyle's fifth goal this season at 7:02 would be the only one scored in the first period. Zach Werenski continues racking up points, adding his twenty-fourth assist this season on the primary, while Cole Sillinger gets his eleventh on the secondary. The Blue Jackets would also win the shots on goal battle in the first twenty minutes, 9-8!

Period 2 would be just as competitive as Period 1, I'm happy to report. At 00:41, the Knights would tie the game early with a power play goal as Damon Severson sat in the box for tripping Mitch Marner. This goal would be the thirteenth this season for Pavel Dorofeyev. The primary assist would end up becoming Mitch Marner's twenty-fourth this season, while J Eichel would add number twenty-nine on the secondary. Later on in the period, the Jackets would go up 2-1 with a goal from Defenseman Ivan Provorov, but a successful challenge by the Knights would remove the goal for offside. Ugh. The Knights' goal, and the Jackets' almost goal, would be the only two in the middle period, bringing us to a 1-1 tie ahead of Period 3. The Jackets would again win the shots on goal battle, 11-7, in the second period.

At 4:49, the Jackets would undoubtedly go up 2-1 after Yegor Chinakov rushed down the ice and fired his third goal this season into the visitors' net! Dante Fabbro would find his way back onto the scoresheet with assist number four of his season on the primary, while Kent Johnson adds assist number five to his on the secondary. But, of course, the Knights aren't going to give up that easily. They would match the Jackets' second goal tonight at 5:52. The goal would be the fourth this season for Ben Hutton. It would give Mitch Marner his second assist tonight, his twenty-fifth this season, on the primary, while Kaedan Korczak gets his third this season on the secondary. The Knights would then get their first lead of the night, 3-2, as Brayden McNabb scored goal one of his season at 13:13. Mitch Marner gets his third assist tonight, twenty-sixth overall, on the primary, while Braeden Bowman gets his seventh on the secondary. With just a few minutes left, Adam Fantilli would get hit in the mouth with a high stick from the Knights' Brayden McNabb. The high stick would result in a double minor as Adam Fantilli left the ice bleeding heavily from his mouth. Not good, hope he's alright! With a power play for the remainder of the game, 02:59, the Jackets would go to work. The Jackets would have great opportunities, and they would even pull Jet Greaves from the home net for a six-on-four with a minute to play, but the Jackets wouldn't find the tying goal. The Jackets played this game great, but the close games and goals continue to sting our boys. In the final period, the Knights had one more shot on goal than the Jackets, 10-9.

I believe that Adam Fantilli appeared at the end of the game to help with the awarded power play to him after he took a high stick to the mouth. Hopefully, that means it was a lot of blood, but a minor hit. If not, watch my social media pages and I'll pass along any updates I see. I wish him the best.

For the first goal of the game, Charlie Coyle skates away with the Third Star of the Game.

Brayden McNabb, with his game-winning goal, adds the Second Star of the Game to his night.

Mitch Marner, with his assist hat-trick (0-3-3), gets the First Star of the Game.

The Blue Jackets' next game will be Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena, hopefully with a lot less snow, 5th Line! We'll drop the puck against the Anaheim Ducks at 7:00 p.m.

Go CBJ!
