Vancouver Canucks @ Columbus Blue Jackets: Season 25 1/15/26

It's Rick Bowness's world, and Columbus is now living in it. After notching his first win as the Blue Jackets Head Coach on Tuesday, beating the Calgary Flames, in regulation, 5-3, he'd look for another win tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. The Blue Jackets would start with the only goal in the opening period at 17:25 as Charlie Coyle adds his tenth this season! Charlie Coyle accomplished this on the power play, too, while Canucks' Max Sasson sat in the box for tripping him at 15:49. Kirill Marchenko adds assist number twenty-three to his season with the primary, while Adam Fantilli adds his eighteenth assist this season for scoring on the secondary. The Blue Jackets would conclude this period by not just leading on the scoreboard, 1-0, but also leading shots on goal, 15-11.

The Good start for the home team would continue in Period 2 as Kirill Marchenko would score a goal all his own at 5:49, giving the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead! This would become his seventeenth goal of this season. He'd be tied at seventeen goals with Zach Werenski, until Zach Werenski retook the lead, scoring his eighteenth goal this season, making it 3-0, at 10:14! He'd send a beautiful slap shot into the back of the Canucks net from Kent Johnson, giving him the only assist on this goal, and his ninth assist this season. Bonus, this would be the Blue Jackets' second power play goal on their second chance on the power play as Canucks' Marcus Petterson sat in the box for tripping Kent Johnson. Unfortunately, before the period could conclude, Kirill Marchenko would head to the box for hooking Canucks' Conor Garland at 12:51, and they would score on their first power play tonight. The goal would become the tenth this season for Brock Boeser. Elias Petterson adds his sixteenth assist of the season to his total on the primary, while Zeev Buium gets his fifteenth assist this season on the secondary. The period would end with the Blue Jackets still leading by two, 3-1, and the Blue Jackets would win the shots on goal battle for a second period in a row, 13-12.

Period 3 would see the Blue Jackets never let up, as they'd push harder for the win. At 10:13, Kent Johnson would secure his first multipoint night in some time as he'd add his fifth goal of the season to his primary assist in Period 2! Our Captain hits a milestone 200th assist as a Columbus Blue Jacket as he gets the primary, giving him his sixteenth assist this season! In addition, Damon Severson gets himself on the scoresheet with the secondary assist, giving him fifteen this season. This would bring us to a 4-1 Blue Jackets lead with just under half a period to play! The Blue Jackets would go on to kill the rest of the clock and WIN! Rick Bowness is now 2-0-2, and the Blue Jackets have now won their last three games in a row! Superman would be proud of this team's effort tonight on the ice!

The Third Star of the Game tonight was Kirill Marchenko after a 1-1-2 night!

The Second Star of the Game tonight was Kent Johnson after having a 1-1-2 night!

And, the First Star of the Game, all the haters pay attention, Elvis Merzlikins! He stopped 30 of the 31 Canucks shots on his net, for a stellar .968 save percentage! Now that's the Elvis we know. When asked, he gave credit to Rick Bowness in the postgame, without hesitation.

The Blue Jackets now head to Pittsburgh for a clash with their ultimate rival, the Penguins! That game is Saturday night, and the puck drop is at the classic 7:00 p.m.

GO CBJ!!!
