It's a good day for Justin Richards as he inks a deal with the AHL's Cleveland Monsters.  He will play the 2022-23 Sason with the team.   If you enjoyed the Sillinger families return to Columbus by way of Cole Sillinger, you'll be happy to know that we aren't stopping with him.  When it comes to bringing in the next generation from the Blue Jackets players and staff of the past, there are plenty more coming up the ranks and Justin richards is yet another one.  He's the of Todd Richards, who coached the NHL team.  In his short time doing so he made incredible history, taking the 2014 team to their first ever playoff run.  I truly hope his son brings the Cleveland Monsters, and maybe even the Columbus Blue Jackets if needed, the talent his father once did.   Welcome to Cleveland, Justin!   Source: Jeff Svoboda Tweet on 29 August, 2022: " The Cleveland Monsters have signed forward Justin Richards to a one-year AHL contract. It's somber news that I feel many of us had moved on from, believing the chance of this news coming had passed.  Last season in January, against the Calgary Flames, Alexander Texier suffered a broken finger.  This would be his final game with the team last season.  Although the injury happened in January, he'd been just about ready to return to the ice when his family suffered a multiple family loss.  At this time Alexander Texier would return home to France and be excused for the remainder of the 2021-2022 NHL Season.   Alexander Texier returned to the ice in May, playing for his home country of France in the 2022 IIHF Worlds Tournament.  He played incredibly well, which gave many fans and myself hope for his future in a Columbus Blue Jackets Jersey.  Not that we needed much, he was having one of his best seasons last year, in 36 games he had 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 total points.  Keep in mind, 36 games isn't even havl the season....

It's been a while since a signing happened, Patrik Laine was the last actually.  Today however, that all changes as Brett Gallant "Gally" inks a new deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets AHL officiate, Cleveland Monsters.  The deal will take him through the next 2022-23 AHL Season.   Being 192 pounds and standing at 6'0 exactly, it makes sense as to why the Monsters want him back.  He's higher on penalty minutes, having 98 total over his 2021-22 AHL Season, where he appeared in just 53 games.  Having a veteran who handle himself at age 33 and can show the younger players how to do the same, is never a bad thing.  In addition, with the exit of Oliver Bjorkstrand, it's nice to have someone who was part of the 2016 Calder Cup around as well.   Good luck to all the Cleveland Monsters this upcoming season.  For more details and stats about Brett Gallant, you can follow my source here <  Forward Brett Gallant returns to Monsters on one-y...

With 3 points in the Semifinal game yesterday against Czechia, Kent Johnson left a mark on this 2022 World Juniors for Canada.  Tonight, he underlined it with one goal, but the one which mattered most.  At 63:20 Kent Johnson would score in Overtime, making the final a 3-2 win over Finland and gaining his country, Team Canada GOLD at the 2022 World Juniors!   What a day to be a Blue Jacket or Canadian fan.  Congratulations to Kent Johnson, I can't wait to seee how you carry this win over into camp in just a few weeks!   Congratulations!   IIHF Writers.  20 August, 2022.  IIHF>com   IIHF - CAN - FIN 20.08.2022 - 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP - Game Centre Play by play

It's unfortunate, but congratulations to Switzerland on their World Junior's 2022 Bronze Medal.  The final was a 3-1 Win over Team Czechia, which many of us would've liked to have won, due to the Columbus Blue Jackets presence on the team.  2022 Draft Pick David Jiricek would add one more assists, a secondary, to his 2022 World Juniors total.  Stanislav Svozil and Martin Rysavy wouldn't have points today, but both had a good showing in the 2022 Would Juniors Tournament as well.  Eveen without a medal to pack when going home, making it to a medal game is no easy task.  These three men have plenty to be proud of as they prepare for this upcoming NHL and AHL season.  No matter where they may land, I'm excited to report on them for you all.   Go CBJ! It was a big day for Columbus Blue Jackets Kent Johnson, who had goal 1 in the Semifinals for Team Canada.  In addition to this point, he'd go on to have two assists in this Semifinal also.  Three points total for Johnson tonight would help his team greatly, advancing them to the final, gold match tomorrow on August 20, 2022.   Sadly, this does mean they eliminated their opponent, Team Czechia, which had three drafted Blue Jackets on its roster.  David Jiricek and Stanislav Svozil would both have an assist in this game, but Martin Rysavy would not.  The final score of the semifinal game would be Team Canada over Team Czechia, 5-2.  The good news for Team Czechia is that they will go on to play for the bronze, so the best of luck to them!   Good luck to Kent Johnson and Team Canada!  I'll have updates tomorrow.   Source: IIHF Writers, 19 August, 2022.  IIHF.com,  IIHF - CAN - CZE 19.08.2022 - 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHA...

A big day for Kent Johnson at the 2022 World Juniors would start with his first goal of the championship tournament!  This goal would come from him, for Team Canada, at 19:00 exactly in period 1.  He would then tack on another primary assist in period 3, on the Tyson Foerster goal at 47:29.  This would be the final goal scored in the game and Team Canada would take the win over Team Czechia; the final was 5-1.   Congratulations on a great day in the World Juniors, Kent Johnson!   Source IIHF Writers.  IIHF.com, 13 August, 2022.  IIHF - Home 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP  

If drafted or current Columbus Blue Jackets have a big moment in the IIHF 2022 World Juniors Championships, I'll post about it.  Today David Jiricek gets us going with two big moments in one game, the first for his country, Czechia, in these championships.  Not only did David Jiricek have an assist in the second period from Martin Rysavy, another Blue Jacket name to watch for, but he was also named the "player of the game" for his countries team, Czechia.  This was revealed in a video posted to Twitter upon the games 5-4 final.  Chechia would narrowly pull out a huge win over a talented team Slovakia.   A huge congratulations to Jiricek.  He looked great in the Columbus Blue Jackets Development Camp a few weeks back, then looks like this in the IIHF World Juniors?  I'm starting to believe he might be the first 2022 Draft pick we see in an NHL Game this season.  It's incredible, we needed another standout defenseman and I believe we got just t...

Forgive me if this is a bit late on the CBJ news front, I've been setting up my new command center (laptop).  Personally, my theory after Kent Johnson gave up his 13 to his idol Johnny "Hockey" Gaudreau, I thought he'd go with 18 for his birth date.  I was very wrong!   Today (which is now yesterday) the Columbus Blue Jackets revealed Kent Johnson will now go up in the numbers!
