Carolina Hurricanes @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 20

Rolling into tonight riding that huge 7-6 overtime win on Hockey Fights Cancer Night against the Lightning, the Blue Jackets would look to continue their point-stealing ways. Period one would open with an early goal from Dante Fabro. The man has been a valuable pickup, and I still can't wrap my mind around why the Predators put him on waivers, but, hey, we'll take him! This was his second goal of the season and he scored it just 2:04 into the game. This goal had no assists, too. Former Blue Jacket, Jack Roslovic, would be on the board next, evening the score at 1-1. This is already his twelfth goal of the season and he scored it at 6:41. S. Aho, a bright light on the Hurricanes team, would have the only assist and this marks his thirteenth already this season. Kirill Marchenko would be the next to score for the Blue Jackets, doing so at 10:20. Yes, this was a busy period! This was Marchenko's seventh goal this season, and like Dante Fabro, this goal would have no assists. T...

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Boston Bruins: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 18

I love the heated desire to win against the Bruins, no matter where the game is played. That said, tonight the Boston Bruins did something very classy for tonight's game, and I can't recap this game until I mention it. Of course, the 5th Line knows that Johnny and Mathew Gaudreau went to Boston College and played college hockey there. As a tribute to the men, the Boston Bruins broke out the NHL-issued 13/21 helmet decals that were worn by all teams when the season started for our visit tonight. Well done, Boston, I didn't see that coming; thank you for honoring our guys tonight.  The first period would be quite remarkable for the visiting Blue Jackets. Dimitri Voronkov would score his third goal since returning from injury just six games ago. The goal would be scored at 5:17 and give Sean Monahan his eighth assist this season and Donte Fabbro his second. Fun fact, Fabbro has had three points, 1-2-3 in his last two games and he's the newest Jacket to join the team. I won...

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Montreal Canadians: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 17

After an electric win last night against the Penguins in Nationwide Arena it was time for a road trip to Montreal to face the Canadians. The Canadians are improving as a team, making leaps from last season as the Jackets have been, so I was excited to see this game. Also, a shoutout to Canadian Cole Caufield for wearing the number 13 this season to honor his friend, Johnny Gaudreau. Even if he is on the other side of the ice, he's a class act for that. Now, let's recap a game! The Canadians would come up with the first goal of the evening, scoring on Daniil Tarasov at 4:59 into the first period. C. Caufield would come away with the primary assist, his second this season while K. Dach would capture his seventh with the secondary. This goal would be scored on a Canadians powerplay, and we couldn't stay out of the box this period, so the score being 1-0 at the end of one is a hockey miracle!   The Blue Jackets would get on the board thanks to the newest Blue Jacket, Dante Fabr...

Pitsburgh Penguins @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 16

It's good to be back after taking Tuesday off due to being sick. It's also nice when the Jackets score the first goal of the game, especially against a team we have so much history with! Zach Asten-Reese sent his fourth puck to the back of the net at 2:20! Jake Christiansen would pick up his fifth assist of the season while Kevin Labanc would add his eight. (He's really been a great pickup for us this season.) At 8:39, the Jackets would then go up 2-0 on the Penguins with a goal from Zach Werenski, and on the powerplay too! Yegor Chinakov would add his seventh assist on this powerplay goal while Adam Fantilli added his fifth. Now, of course, the Penguins couldn't let us go into the locker room with a 2-0 lead after one period; they'd score by way of A, Beauvillier at 11:51. S. This would mark his sixth goal this season. Crosby, the man, the myth, the Pittsburgh legend would have the only assist on this goal, his twelfth this season. So, after a very active period on...

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Anaheim Ducks: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 14

The Blue Jackets were in search of a win to forget last night's 5-2 loss to the L. A. Kings. With Daniil Tarasov in net, the Blue Jackets would charge onto the ice and although the first goal would belong to B. Larson at 3:13 (the primary assist going to C. Gauthier, his fifth this season, and the secondary going to R. Johnston, his second this season) the Jackets' would persist and come up with the games next goal. Yegor Chinakov would score his fourth goal this season, and on the powerplay to boot! His goal would come at 16:16 and even the game at 1-1. Zach Werenski, who also celebrates his 500th NHL Game tonight, would come away with the primary assist on this powerplay goal, his seventh already this season. The secondary assist would go to Karill Marchenko who continues to show he's a key part of this team; this is his ninth assist this season. The goal from Yegor Chinakov would be the final of this period, and the score would merge into period two tied at 1-1.  Just as...

Columbus Blue Jackets @ L. A. Kings: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 13

The Blue Jackets would come out of San Jose Tuesday night looking for more than one point, and they came out on the hunt but so did the L.A. Kings. The Blue Jackets would score the only goal in period one, giving them a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play! The goal would be the first for #10, Dimitri Voronkov, who faced injury earlier this season. Seeing him score his first after such adversity was a great moment, 5th Line. The only assist on this goal would belong to Justin Danforth, another player excelling since returning from injury. The goal came at 13:26.  The next period would be a different story as a former Jacket would slide the puck past Elvis Merzlikins and jolt the Kings into a 1-1 tie. This goal came from Vladislav Gavrikov and it would be his second this season. Adrian Kempe would gain his eighth assist with the primary assist on Gavrikov's goal while Anze Kopitar would have his eleventh with the secondary. The goal happened at 4:16. The Kings would then score thei...

Columbus Blue Jackets @ San Jose Sharks: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 12

The battle in San Jose tonight into today would be real. Period one would see no goals from either team, but a lot of grit and determination to score. That focus carried over for both teams into period two, and it would appear as if the Sharks had the first goal of the game early, but even though they got the puck past Elvis Merzlikins, a review would be initiated at the request of the Blue Jackets and the goal would be quickly reversed and ruled as goaltender interference. The Sharks would get that goal back at the bitter end of this period, though, as J. Thompson would come through for his home team with his first goal this season. W. Smith would have his first assist of the season and it would be the third assist of the season for F. Zetterlund, coming through with the secondary. The final seconds would tick off the clock and the second period would come to a close with a 1-0 Sharks lead.  The Blue Jackets would come out charging, looking for the tying goal in period three. Vite...

Winnipeg Jets @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 2024-25 NHL Season Game 10

Tonight was a true test for the Columbus Blue Jackets because, even at home, facing the best team in the NHL is always a tall order. The Jets came into tonight with just one loss in their first ten games this season. That said, Elvis Merzlikins and the Blue Jackets have been hot recently. Let's recap this game!  At 5:13, the Jets would strike first with a goal from N. Ehlers; this is his fifth of the season. With just one assist on this goal, C. Miller gains his fourth this season. The Blue Jackets would have an answer for this goal at 11:02 with Sean Kuraly's first goal this season! James van Riemsdyk would have the loan assist on this goal, his second this season. N. Ehlers would prove to be hot this evening, though, scoring his second goal of the period at 15:14. This would become his sixth goal of the season. V. Namestmikov would have the loan assist, giving him six this season. The period would close with a 2-1 Jets lead ahead of the second period.  The second period woul...
